No reserve! You are bidding on a classic 1971 AMC Matador Sedan. Original 304 V8. This is a first-year production model. It was originally sold right here in Northern California. It is a great, very clean, original example. The odometer reads "54xxx," but it may well have rolled over once. The exterior: no accidents, straight body. The original two-tone paint is in fair to good condition (has fading and minor blemishes but is uniform in color). I believe the photos of the car make the paint look better than it actually is. There is no rust (save for tiny amounts of sandable surface rust on the roof --see pics). The interior: has no rips or noticeable stains. The dash has no cracks but is "sun-curled" near windshield. It needs a deck cover for the speaker holes. The car has the optional A/C but does not blow cold. My total investment into this vehicle has now reached $3700. After investing a lot of $$ into this car, the engine developed a rod or bearing problem and has sat, ever since, in my garage for 4 years now. The car starts, moves and runs roughly (I put in a new battery (Last Saturday, May 3rd) and drove it (barely) around the block. Engine will need to be repaired or replaced: It will need to be trailered). Title is clean, is in my name, and is on "non-op status". Here is a partial list of things done to the Matador, just prior to the engine developing a problem: New front end (Control arms, bushings, idler arms, sway bar kit and bushings: $630.38 (excluding labor costs). Rebuilt transmission: $627.59 (excluding labor) Rear brake drums: $116.87 (excluding labor) Remanufactured alternator: $153.95 (including labor). (4) New racing wheels: $320 Rebuilt carb: (two-barrel) $248 (excluding labor) Timing set: $54 (excluding labor) Timing cover and gaskets: $52.90 (excluding labor) Distributer, cap, filters, points, rotor: $68 (excluding labor) Remanufactured starter: $47.60 (excluding labor) Rear main seal: $125 (including labor) Valve cover gasket set: $90 (including labor) New hoses: $48 (self-installed) Oil pan set: $124.80 (including labor) Condensors, A41 performance spark plugs: $24.24 (excluding labor) Ignition coil: $50.83 (excluding labor) Oil, fuel, and air filters: $64.00 (self installed) Other misc. things done; i.e. N.O.S. interior parts, used manuals, and a rebuilt water pump (for which I have no receipt for). You are entitled to see any of the above receipts. Should you wish to see a receipt for a specific item: I can fax you a copy. Other info: Tires are in good-to-decent condition. Brakes should be bled due to the car being stored for a long time. I will answer all questions within 24 hours. The car is located in Mill Valley, California. That's about 10 miles north of the city of San Francisco. Please read: bid only if you are serious and have the financial means to pay for the vehicle and transport to come collect the car (or shipping). I prefer to sell locally but will make an exception if the buyer arranges all shipping details. Car is sold in AS-IS condition with no warranty expressed or implied. Thanks for looking.
