PREVIEW
You are bidding on a 1966 Amc Ambassador Four Door Sedan. This car features the 232 cubic inch Inline Six Cylinder engine. It has a column shift 3 speed automatic transmission. The exterior is Balboa Aqua, its really a eye catching color. The roof is Cortez Aqua Metallic that matches the interior. The interior is green, this is the factory color for the interior. The engine bay was just painted a flat black. The car has only three factory options they are the Power Steering, AM Radio and seat belts.
HISTORY
According to documents and talking with previous owners this car has been a Kentucky car its entire life. It has had 4 owners including myself. The miles are stated as actual at 97,322. The car was sold by the original owner in 1988. Only 6,322 miles have been placed on the car since then. It under went a very amateur restoration in by the second owner in 1995. It was sold on ebay to the third owner in 2001, and was not driven but only around 100 miles in 7 years. I was stored outdoors during this period and that has caused the restoration to show its age. I acquired it in 2008 and have put around 200 miles on it in the past few months driving it to local cruise ins and to Sonic and other scenic drives.

CONDITION
The car is by no means a show car, but a "Presentable" Driver. The car looks great from 10 feet away, the closer you get the more you can see the amateur restoration work. The cars current condition is a # 3 automobile. Mechanically the car is very sound.
Exterior :
This cruiser gets attention going down the road. The color of the paint is no color I have ever seen on a car. It makes it a great looking four door sedan, which is hard to find. The paint code is 19A and that is for Balboa Aqua. As stated above the car is a " 10 footer " meaning it looks great from 10 feet away or driving down the highway. When you look close you can see the body work was not done by a professional. Dont get me wrong here the paint shines and its a good looking car, but no where near perfect or show quality. There is some minor bubble rust on the rocker panel below the rear doors. There is flaking and surface rust on bumpers that has been covered with a silver bumper coating. The paint on the roof appears a little dull. The paint was waxed last week and overall has a good shine. All the glass is good in the car although there is a crack in windshield please see photos.
Interior:
The interior I was told is completly original. The seats and interior is in good shape for a 42 year old car. The material on the drivers seat back is gone and there is starting to be a hole in the material to the passengers seat back, please see photos. I was gonna vinyl dye it and repair it but did not want to take away from the originality of the interior. All the seats are in good condition, there are no cracks in the dash or seats. There are all the seatbelts and they all function properly. The headliner is intact and in good condtion with some minor stains and discoloration. The instrument bezel has some chrome flaking along with the shift knob. The carpet is clean and looks like brand new all around. All windows roll up and down as they should.
Mechanical:
This is a strong little Inline 6 cylinder. I have been told this is the best engine AMC produced and its nearly bulletproof. The car starts right up everytime, its a little cold nature and need to warm up some. The engine does not smoke or leak, except when parked for a long period of time it may leak some oil and tranny fluid. It sound like a little sewing machine. There is one noisy lifter sometimes there sometimes not, previous owner said its been there forever. Car never gave me trouble I enjoyed driving every mile I put on it.
The transmission shifts out smooth, the car runs straight down the road. Linkage may need to be adjusted as sometimes car need to roll a little to go into Park completly. Its no powerhouse, but gets you where you need to go at 20 mpg. Thats hard to beat right now in a historic cruiser. The drum brakes are what you expect. It does not stop on a dime, but these cars never did. The power steering makes it nice for cruising around town. All around a good driving car !
Electrical:
Everything on this car works. The headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, license plate light, map light, dash lights, speedometer, temp gauge, odometer, AM Radio and windshield wipers all function properly. The only thing that does not work is the gas gauge and the headliner dome light.
FINAL WORDS
Where can you get a car for around $3500.00 ( Local Sale Price ) that has this much American history, able to load the entire family or group of friends and go enjoy a night on the town at your local cruise in all while getting nearly 20 miles per gallon ?
That is what this car is about, yeah its no show car but its a good looking car that still gets attention and is fun to drive, but is not gonna kill you at the gas pump. We have enjoyed taking this car to cruise ins and around town with family and friends. Most people dont even know what kind of car it is going down the road. It always gets you a thumbs up when you are out enjoying it.
Please dont come here looking for a show car, I have tried to describe the car to the best of my ability. If you want a car you can enjoy, tinker with in the garage on the weekend and not be afraid to park in a parking lot fearing a scratch this is the car for you. The car is far from perfect, but is enjoyable and that is why we loved it !
