Vehicle Description
Rare and cool 1966 AMC Rambler Ambassador DPL 2 door hardtop. This was about as fancy as AMC got in these years. Nice hardtop styling, 327 V8 engine, 2 barrel, power steering, power brakes, transistor ignition, reclining bucket seats, console, floor mounted shifter for "Flash O Matic" auto transmission, seat belts, extra fancy trim, 2 tone paint, etc. This is mostly complete, not running, engine stuck. If you have a running, driving, 66 Ambassador 4 door,,,,this would be perfect. This has some minor front fender damage, bent front bumper, missing grill, 1 missing tail light and the other tail light broken. Swap the front clip, engine and tail lights from your 4 door and "presto", cool 2 door hardtop ride. This front clip is repairable also, without any major damage. Condition is: LF fender, dented front, chrome vents pitted, missing lower front stainless, hood decent, grill gone, headlight bezels gone, front bumper bent, RF fender dented front, missing vents and front trim, R door has some putty/but ok, RR 1/4 and rocker rust, R tail light gone, L lens broken, rear bumper decent, trunk ok, LR 1/4 and rocker rusty, L door decent. It has some rust on the front L A-pillar and some along the drip rails. All of the fancy wide stainless is intact on the sides of the car in decent, (not perfect) shape. The roof has some deep scratches and paint coming off. The trunk floor is fine,,,even has the factory jack. Underneath the car is a little of a mystery. It is undercoated heavy and all the main unibody structure looks fine. Inner R 1/4 behind the wheel well has a couple small holes. I took pictures of most of the underside,,,it really looks solid from underneath. When I pulled the floor mats out, there is a gaping hole on the passenger side at the bottom of the trans tunnel, by the front seat and also a hole over by the right front side of the front seat. Driver side looks ok. I don't know what caused that passenger side problem, but that would definately need some work. Headliner has the cool chrome strips and a mouse hole or 2. Seats are all intact needing restoring, seat trim has some light pitting. Dash pad is shot, gauges, radio look decent. Steering wheel cracked, horn ring pitted. Console has some pitting as does the shifter handle. It has the console storage and flip down arm rest. Rear seat has flip arm rest also. All door/side panels intact needing restore. Handles and cranks are lightly pitted. All glass is good including windshield, but windshield has the typical light fogging around the lower edges and tiny, tiny sand pitting. Very useable, no cracks or big chips. LR 1/4 window doesn't roll down all the way, probably some stuff built up in the tracks. It has 2 (I believe) correct hubcaps (left) and 2 incorrect on the right. It roles and steers fine. TIres are just old rollers, wheels unknown. This does need a total restoration, or could be possibly used for parts, but it is a very unique car with great styling and features. Look closely. I will store the car for a reasonable time or can deliver within 400 miles possible for a charge.
