this is what i beleive to be a 1971 dj 5b dispacher 100, it is supposed to have the 232 3.8L AMC inline 6 engine with an automatic 3 speed borgwarner t-35 transmission. and that is what appears to be in the jeep. it has a clear south carolina title. i am selling this for a friend and do not have the title at this moment but it will go with the vehicle. he is in the hospital and needs the money to pay bills. he bought it at the end of last year for a postal job, he paid the guy he bought it from $300 to replace a transmission pump and when he brought it home and i helped him get it to a dependable condition, we replaced the oil pump, water pump, coil, and installed a transmission cooler. i fixed the lights all the way around, the flashers do work and the turn signals work, and i am in the process of hooking them up. the jeeps engine runs very strong. i have owned several older jeeps and this is the best running engine i have delt with. the transmission has a problem. not sure what, i dont tinker with transmissions and thats why it isnt fixed already. you can drive it, you can put it into drive, reverse park ect, and it works fine. but when it is in drive, it wont shift into 2nd or 3rd gear like it should, it doesnt slip, it just wont shift. but it will run from what he told me about 45mph in drive, and he never had to drive far so it wasnt much of a problem. i think the furthest he drove it was from north carolina when he bought it (maybe 80 miles). but it does leak transmission fluid. it has sliding the sliding doors you can open while the jeep is moving. it comes with a spare tire and rim. why is he selling it? he lost the job at the post office a few months ago and hasnt had any need for this vehicle other than using it around the yard. and he needs the money. he has about $1500 invested. the tires have descent tread but 2 are flat at the moment.. i put fix a flat in them and they last for a while but end up going flat again. and i will have them ready to drive on when ever you show up. the odemeter reads 65k.
will it pass an emissions test? im not sure we dont have those here in south carolina, but the exhaust has a few holes in it and if you fixed that, im fairly confident it would pass with flying colors.
rust - it has a bit of rust around the edges, i will post more pictures soon, but i dont know of any rust that has produced holes in the sheet metal, so it isnt that bad
it is a 71, and there will be little things here and there that do not work. the horn works (i fixed it) the little fan inside works, im not sure about the speedometer, but if im not mistaken i dont beleive the fuel gauge works. the tempurate gauge works, it's actually new, as well as the manual choke (also new), and the oil pressure gauge. the back door has a new lock on it (im not sure why). it does have the mail tray in it and mirrors all over the place. the seat is in fair shape, it has tape on it.
A $400 deposit is required within 48 hrs and the rest must be paid in cash or money order at the time of pickup. if you choose to personally pick it up the title will be given to the buyer at the time of pick up. since i am willing to help you ship the vehicle, if you choose to go that route the title will be delivered signed via certified mail. but only after the money order is received.
i will help you ship this vehicle if you would like. i am willing to drive it anywhere within greenville county (to a shipping center perhaps) for you for the cost of gas. just let me know where and when and i'll see what i can do. i dont know anything about shipping vehicles so if you would like it shipped, you are going to have to find a shipping company, and pay for it ect. ect. ect. and i may even drive it outside of greenville county if it isnt too far. but greenville is a rather large city and im sure you could find one close enough.
i have sold quite a few things on ebay and you can check my feedback, i always come through, and i am a very honest seller. this is my first vehicle though. i have had alot of bad luck with bidders who have low feedback, so as a rule if you have less than ten feedback, please contact me before you bid.
if you have ANY questions at all just send me a message, i check my messages often daily. if you would like to speak with me or the owner over the phone or in person or would like to see the vehicle firsthand just message me and i will make it happen. i reserve the right to pull this auction at any time. although i doubt i will

today i cranked up the jeep, it ran fine. it could use a carb cleaning but it ran. it shifted into gear fine and also i installed a new $100 battery with a 3 year warranty from advanced auto parts, the fuel pump was also replaced when he bought it, as well as the positive battery terminal.. i havent had much luck with the turn signals - but im working on them. and i was advised that the shifting problem could be as simple as a vaccume line from the carb to the transmission? im not sure. but i will keep you updated
