THE OVERVIEW
Offered here for an appreciating new owner is this very rare 1970 BMW E9 chassis 2800CS 4 speed Coupe!
[This car is now being relisted after the winning bidder, a 76 year-old chap in Oregon had the deal kyboshed by the Missus!] Recently refinished in what looks like BMW "bronzit" metallic over tan interior, this even rarer-than-a 3.0CS E9 2800CS has the 170 horsepower 2.8 liter inline six cylinder engine with upgraded dual Weber carbs mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. The non-working five-digit odometer shows just over 57,000 miles though the actual miles is unknown and is not documented. It is being sold with clean and clear California certificate of title with current registration. Overall this is a good driver starter CS offered here with a low four-digit reserve. THE BODY, PAINT TRIM
The exterior of this car is in good condition with newer paint which is in nice glossy condition with a bit of "edge" in the rocker panel areas with some flaking rust spots. The car shows fairly well with good original trim and chrome.
INSIDE THE CAR
As I hope is articulated in the photos, the interior of this car is in good though not quite excellent condition overall! It has a nice Nardi leather sport steering wheel, the front and rear seat upholstery has been redone, the carpets are very nice original, the door panels good, the wood is fair to poor, the original headliner is excellent, the vinyl dash has some heat cracks. The gauges for temperature, fuel and speedo work well. The odometer is inop as are the two rear window switches. The front manual crank windows and the vent "wing" windows are fine.
THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE
The engine of this classic BMW starts and runs very well and strong. The transmission shifts well free from any grinding, the brakes stop well, the exhaust is quiet, the front suspension components are loose and need some refurbing.
