1970 BMW CS
This is a carburettor BMW CS that I purchased to restore and ran out of space. It runs and drives but it will need attention. The interior appears original and is in nice shape except for a tare in the drivers seat bolster and a few nicks in the leather.
Body
These cars all have rust issues and this is no exception The spare tire well needs to be addressed as it rusted through from the inside (see pics) It can be repaired, but it should be replaced. A new tire well cost $460. There is surface body rust and rust around front shock wells. The paint is very poor and it will need to be stripped and repainted.
Mechanics
It starts fast. The transmission won’t go in reverse and the neutral safety control switch is bad (need to jiggle the gear shift to start it). I got a quote for a rebuild of $1100. The brakes work. I haven’t had them looked at
Electric
Windshield wiper motor doesn’t work. Front window motors appear to work but windows or off the track. The controls for the back widow were removed I don’t know why. I have the switches. Original radio works. AC blower works but the belt is off, so I don’t know if the compressor works
Glass
Clean with no cracks
Motor
I was told by the prior owner that it was rebuilt 10,000 miles ago, but I can’t confirm this.

This car won’t pass inspection because of the wipers. I’ve driven it from the drop-off (1 mile) seemed fine but the brakes were never checked so it must be towed.
