This 1999 BMW 528i is a local trade-in in good condition. Combining luxury touches like leather interior, wood grain trim and power assists with a performance handling setup, the 528i is true dual purpose vehicle and is competent either cruising lazily down the highway or being pushed at full throttle down a twisting road.
With 103,341 miles on the odometer, this 528i is in very good condition and has plenty of remaining life. This is an opportunity to purchase a fine example of the 528i at a good price and enjoy the vehicle for years to come.
The body design of the 528i is pure BMW from the twin kidney shaped grill to the large taillight clusters in the rear. The paint finish, in BMW’s Cashmere Beige (Kaschmirbeige), is in good condition. It shines brightly with no fading or thinning. There are a few very light scratches on the body but no more than would be expected on a vehicle of this age. The blue and white paint on the BMW roundel on the hood is peeling but this is an inexpensive repair. I recent purchase one at the local BMW store for a different vehicle and the cost was less than $20. There is a paint knick on the driver’s side by the rear taillight and a door ding on front passenger’s side door. Both of these would be considered minor blemishes.
Finished in tan leather, the interior is in good condition. The controls are all within easy reach of the driver and allows the feeling of being in command. The leather is in good condition with no rips, tears or stains. The carpet is clean with no tears or stains. There are a few very minor cracks in the wood trim and the center cupholders in the driver’s console do not retract.
Convenience features include power mirrors, power door locks, power windows and keyless entry. The power seats include memory positions. The steering wheels houses audio and cruise controls and the power tilt and telescoping feature allows adjustment to the driver’s preference. The dual zone climate control provides temperature comfort for both the driver and passenger. Sound is delivered through the AM/FM/Cassette/Multi CD system. The gauge cluster includes speedometer, tachometer, and temperature gauge plus the information display keeps the driver up-to-date on the vehicle functions.
The power moonroof operates smoothly and easily and the shade is in good condition with no stains.
Both the glass and the dash are in good condition.
Driving the 528i is where the genius of BMW is revealed. The inline-6, 2.8-liter delivers great performance with outstanding torque and freedom from vibration that is inherent in all inline 6-cylinder engines. Delivering 193 horsepower and 206 foot-pounds of torque, the healthy acceleration and fuel efficiency is managed by BMW’s VANOS variable valve timing system. The engine purrs and delivers. The handling is very good and would be further improved with new tires, as the current ones need to be replaced. The braking is good with no vibration.

· May, 2008: New front brake pads and rotors
· April, 2008: Replaced exhaust camshaft sensor
