Vehicle Description 1987 BMW 535is - No Reserve I am relisting this due to another deadbeat bidder. I have lowered the opening bid. This is a 1987 535is that I picked from my neighborhood repair shop. The previous owner brought it in for some work and then was not able to pay for the repairs - so the shop ended up with it. They put about $1,100 in parts into the car, including a new windshield, new brakes, new fog lights, and tail light lens. The engine starts up and runs fairly well. I checked the compression and all cylinders are between 132 and 138 psi. Five speed transmission shifts smoothly in all gears with no grinding. Clutch feels strong. Most electrics seem to work well, including windows, mirrors, electric seats, etc. It has some nice chrome 17 inch wheels. The rims are M3 replicas, and cost about $250 each new. They are in very good shape. The following is a link to the info about them. http://southernwheel.com/wheels.cgi?product=244 These rims are no longer available new, since BMW sued them for copyright infringement. This BMW is sold as is with no warranty or guarantees. You can reach me directly at scottpbryant@comcast.net or at (703) 590-2607. The car is available for inspection and you are encouraged to inspect it, and ask questions prior to bidding. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells locally. Do not bid unless you have the money in hand to complete the transaction. Anyone with NO OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK will need to contact me prior to bidding or their bid will be canceled. Sorry, too much fraudulent bidding. Here are the questions and answers from the last auction: Q: I know this question is usually hard to answer, but would YOU feel comfortable driving it from your home to Jacksonville FL? Jun-20-08 A: I think it would probably make it, but I would not feel comfortable setting out on that long of a trip with it. I just do not know the car that well, and with the miles and front end shimmy wouldn't want to go that far. I have had good luck getting very reasonable prices to ship cars using www.uship.com - give that a try. Scott Q: Hello, Does the A/C work? Do you know of any other problems with the car? Jun-15-08 A: The AC compressor does engage, and the AC blows cool air, but not really cold. This car has nearly 300K miles on it - so it definitely has some wear and tear. Other issues I have noticed include a shimmy in the front end, the tachometer has stopped working, the temp gauge does not work, the rear driver side window does not work. I have not completely inspected the car so there may be other issues. I have it priced based on the value of the new parts and wheels - pretty much as a parts car. Hope this is helpful - please give me a call to discuss further or come take a look at the car if you are able.
