Vehicle Description
For sale is a 2000 BMW M5. 400 HP V8 4.9L. As you see in the pictures this car is very clean both on the outside and inside. I purchased the car at the auction (sold by an insurance company) and now do not have the time or the money to fix it all the way and enjoy it. It does have a Salvage flood branded title. The mileage on the title says 999,999 in other words unknown because of flood. You can barley see that it's about 114k on the instrument cluster but many of the pixels are dead (common problem in all bmw's) so it's hard to say. I believe that it was insurance fraud which got it the salvage title. This M5 drives and is very very fast. The engine and transmission as well as the rear axle have been professionally cleaned and flushed. The engine and transmission had no sign of water in them. The rear axle did. I have also put in a brand new OEM made in Germany clutch. Taking the car to 2 different mechanics, both told me that the engine is good and strong.
The things that it needs is an alternator replaced because is it making a scrubbing noise due to the flood. The last thing that the engine needs for the timing chains to be tightened and tuned because it makes a little noise, this is regular maintenance for the double vanos system. Other then this the engine has no knocks or rattles and is in very good shape. The rubber bushing on the rear axle on the drivers side will need to be changed. The 6 speed manual transmission is making a small winding noise, the synchronizer may need replacing. It does shift very well with no problems. As for the interior everything works including the stereo, steering wheel buttons, dash buttons, Navigation system and the a/c is ice cold. The power seats however do not work and may need the motors to be replaced or cleaned out. I believe that the water only got to the bottom of the dash and not past. As for the cosmetics the bumper may need to be replaced or professionally repaired, and the front end of the hood has a major scuff and a minor dent underneath the tail light as seen on the pictures below.
Everything else is in very good working condition. I have disclosed everything for this car so that someone can make a complete estimate as to what it will cost to have this car fully repaired.
