You are bidding on a stunning 1937 Buick Series 46 Special Business Coupe. The odometer shows, what is believed to be 76K original miles, based on the documents and records provided by the owner. By the mid 1930’s Buick had developed a reputation as a strong performer, successful in many racing venues, and as a quality car often bought by prosperous individuals. In the GM lineup of cars, only the Cadillac out ranked the Buick in prestige. In 1937, under the guidance of GM head of styling, Harley Earl, Buicks gained sleek new art deco styling. The all steel turret top, longer fenders, a divided grille with horizontal bars grilles and matching hood side vents, integrated trunks, hypoid rear axles, standard windshield defrosters, and a steering wheel horn ring were all developments for 1937. This was also the first year that Buick used Bake-a-lite on some interior fittings. The door handles, dash knobs, and steering wheel were all made of an ivory-yellow Bake-a-lite. This California Buick was one of 13,742 produced and is equipped with: A completely rebuilt 248 CID Inline 8 Motor with streamlined intake valves; 3 speed Buick transmission; new single dry plate clutch; rebuilt 1-barrel carburetor; strong arm steering; juice brakes; heater; window vents; banjo steering wheel; dash clock; original wheel covers; and much more. This Buick starts and runs very smoothly, with good power. It drives and cruises like a new car would in 1937. The wide white wall tires on this 122 inch wheelbase Packard are very good with even wear. All the 6V electrical features work. This illustrious and well cared for car is very solid, complete, and rust free. It received a complete ground up restoration during the mid 80’s, with a re-paint done in the correct Nason Coronary Green. The chrome shows no signs of pitting or damage. This smoke and odor free car has been garaged its whole life. The correct and prestigious mohair/leather interior, tan colored carpet, sandal wood headliner show very well with little wear and are rip and tear free (see pics). All the window treatments and the dash have been re-painted burl wood by a master artisan. Original literature included with the sale. Some of the documents are sales recipes and bills totaling over 20K, the Buick shop manual, owner’s manual, and brochures.
