Vehicle Description
Up for auction is a very sweet 1956 Cadillac Series 62 with a 365 engine and auto trans...
THE HISTORY:
Car was bought new in 1956 and driven into the mid 60's. It was taken off the road and stored in a garage until 1984 at which point it was sold to it's second owner and put back on the road. It was driven and garage kept for a few years then stored again. It was bought three years ago and was driven until last year. For the last 10 months it has been sitting in a driveway...
ENGINE: Cadillac 365 V8. Until the battery died the engine ran great. Engine hasn't run in about ten months due to the battery not holding a charge. Car starts with a jump but will not restart without one. A new generator was installed but the original battery was not so a new battery has been ordered. The car will be running by the time this auction ends. Until the battery issue it ran very well - smooth idle, good power and the tranny shifts smoothly.
BODY: The body is in GREAT shape. A few small bubble spots around the lower trim area but no cancer anywhere except one floor pan which could be fixed easily. The frame is solid all around, only has a light layer of surface powder on the rails - see the pics. Suspension is solid as a rock just needs the usual bushings. Trunk is great, no rust anywhere, just a bit dirty. Even the spare tire dip in the trunk pan is completely clean which is rare. All the trim is there minus only a small "swoop" the goes under one of the Cadillac scripts. Chrome is rusted in some places on the bumper and various trim, but is to be expected for a car this age - could be re chromed (but looks bada$$ the way it is).
INTERIOR: Powder blue and Grey. The interior is in very nice shape - could use a good cleaning but its all there and intact. Carpets are good, seats good, dash is good. The car could use new weather stripping around the doors and trunk but this is easily done.
THE BOTTOM LINE: I've fully restored three cars so far (1929 Ford Model A, 1961 Fairlane 500 and a 1967 Galaxie 500) and this car needs almost nothing. Look closely at the photos and you'll see what I mean. The car belongs to a good friend of mine who can't keep it and doesn't know enough about it to fix it himself. I've personally been through this car and if this auction does not sell it I'm taking her. With about $250 in parts, a vacuum cleaner and a weekend of work I'd drive her anywhere, no joke. And if you wanted to go a bit further she the perfect year for a chop, french or whatever your custom heart desires. She is a true hot rod waiting to happen for short investment.
The car is available to see anytime in Plymouth MA a few minutes from main street. $500 dollar deposit sue within three days of auction end, balance to handled when you come get and get it in CASH, CERTIFIED BANK CHECK or POSTAL MONEY ORDER. Sold as-is. No warranty, no BS. This car is practically being given away... EDIT - Forgot to mention a slow leak in one tire and the wiper lines should be changed. That's it...
