Vehicle Description For sale is a 1965 Cadillac Calais Coupe that I have owned for the previous 6 years. I will do my best to describe the vehicle to you...please understand that this is being sold AS IS with no warranty, expressed or implied. Pick-up only! Unless you live in the Albuquerque, NM area plan on trailering it home. Background: I bought the car while living in Austin, Texas in 2002 from a "man of the cloth" ...a preacher from the Church of the Living Waters. It was donated to the church by an elderly lady. Armadillo Automotive, a well known Classic Cadillac specialist in Austin had worked on the car for the previous owner and recognized it when I brought it in for servicing...they kept it in great running condition over the years. This caddy cruised the streets of Austin and could tell some stories. I moved to Albuquerque and brought it with me...but when my daughter arrived, I began to neglect it. I recently took it into a local shop to have it looked at...the mechanic put it up in the air and informed me that it was "a great builder with no rust" and that it is a great restoration candidate. It currently runs but needs a tune-up and some TLC as it has been sitting in my driveway for the past three years and has only been started once every few months in that time. It has a strong 429 V8 engine and is a mere 18.5 feet long! I have put the following new parts on within the last few years: 4 white-wall tires from Sears, alternator, starter, battery and battery cable connectors, steering arm bushings, most hoses, fuel filter, radiator cap and thermostat, K&N air filter, exhaust pipe from the manifold back and a knock-off "flo-master" muffler that sounds great, distributor and spark plug wires, ignition switch, and 4 shocks. I Problems I know of: Needs a brake job, the Radiator has a leak, the transmission has a leak, no heater core or AC compressor, a few small dings in the body and a small piece of chrome is missing near the trunk. I think a steering arm rod is bent...The original radio was replaced with a crappy tape deck at some point but no modifications were made to the dashboard thankfully. The rear electric windows won't roll down currently...A few small tears are located in the headliner. The paint job is not factory and is currently starting to peel and fade. The vehicle comes with an extra Holley 4 barrel carb I have and the original service manual. All said, I've put over $5500 in this vehicle...happy bidding! I'll be posting more photos soon...questions are encouraged but realize that i am limited in my knowledge of mechanics. Thanks!
