1984 CADILLAC COUPE DEVILLE
Up for auction is a beautiful Cadillac Coupe DeVille with 35xxx documented, Carfax certified, original miles in triple blue. I included as many photos as possible and am glad to provide more of specific areas upon request. I have tried to offer as much detail about the condition of the vehicle as I can and encourage interested parties to ask any questions regarding details not addressed. This vehicle is not perfect or "concours" quality, but it is in great overall condition and is an excellent example of a very well maintained original Cadillac..
I secured this vehicle through a friend who aquired it from an elderly relative. They were the original owners and took very good care of it during their ownership. There is no accident history. The vehicle was repainted some time ago and is in very good overall condition. The vehicle runs and drives well. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The suspension is very solid without klunks, rattles or virbration. The steering is easy and sure. It has a current Virginia saftey and emissions inspection and recently received a fresh oil change, new batttery, new brakes, new A/C compressor and two new Michelin tires.
EXTERIOR
This vehicle could easily be considered a true "20-footer." The exterior is in excellent overall condition. It was repainted by the original owners and despite minor age-related imperfections, looks great. The hood, trunk doors, roof and fenders are laser straight, there are no dents and the body is essentially ding-free. Some more noticeable Items of note include two small surface nicks about the size of sesame seeds at the top of the drivers door, a small smudge on the drivers front fender, some paint peeling on the inside passnger doorjamb, minor chipping on the lower rear of the front wheel well. The chrome front bumper shines like new and the rear bumper, despite some minor wear, is in very good condition also. The original vinyl top is in excellent shape. All emblems are in tact as are the lights on the landau top. Two of the tires are brand new and the others have less than 1,000 miles on them. The wire wheel covers are nearly flawless and the emblems on them are all intact. The spare tire has never seen the ground.
INTERIOR / MECHANICAL
The interior is in near mint condition. The carpets throughout are immaculate and 100% tear-free and the original mats are included.The front seats barely show so much as a crease and the rear seats look like they've never been sat in. The car has never been smoked in and the unmolested condition of the lighter is evidence of this. The driver door armrest does have a crack in it, but I can include a replacement at the Buy It Now price. The, dash, center console, trim etc are all in excellent condition with all emblems intact. There are a few small spots where the headliner foam has deteriorated and the cloth has detached. All power options work including the windows, locks trunk release and power truck close, with the exception of the power drivers seat. The passenger seat power controls are fully functional. The A/C has a brand new compressor and blows ice cold. The Cruise control works. The trip computer and mileage estimator is fully functional. It has a very nice brand new aftermarket Pioneer CD changer. All other interior components work perfectly.

Since this listing began i have received MANY questions about the car. It is clear that potential 80's-ear DeVille buyers are a discerning and meticulous bunch and know alot about these cars. I can only answer them to the best of my knowledge and overall experience with vehicles in general, so I wanted to try to provide as much information as possible about the car in addition to the listing. I want to make sure i have described the vehicle accurately and fairly and that expectations are properly set. I am very protective of my eBay reputation and feedback and never want anyone to believe they have been misled.
For the record, i am not a Cadillac afficianado. I am a guy who loves cars and has a particular fondness for older ones, especially nes in good condition. That being said, i am not aware of every nuance, difference between model years, quirks etc of this particular car. I am confident most potential buyers know much more about them then i do. That being said, i can comment about certain things on the vehicle that i know to be true.
First off, i stated in the listing that there were no drips from the car. When showing the vehicle yesterday, i discovered that after the car had been parked for the past two weeks, there were a few spots underneath the engine. No puddles, no massive oil spots, but just a few small drops of oil, nothing else. My oversight.
According to the Carfax report and title history, the miles. are true and there is no accident history. There is no reason to believe these miles are not true. The car was repainted at some point and the paint job, while not "concours" or show quality, is very good-no drips, runs etc. The vinyl top is in very good condition,but I dont if it is original or was replaced/restored at some point. The paint has minor imperfections here and there (scratches, etc) but i would conservatively describe it at least as well above average for a 24 year old car. I do not know whether the vinyl top has been restored. I can only say that it is in excellent condition, but am not sure whether it is original. The rear trunk emblem plastic is suffed and cloudy. I did not include a photo of this in the listing, but can certainly provide one if necessary.
The interior, with the exception of the cracked armrest and headliners spots, is in excellent condition. This includes the front and rear seat, the carpet, the mats, the dash. With the exception of the power drivers seat, All of the electrical components work, including the power windows, locks, passenger power seat, cruise control, remote trunk release and closing mechanism, wipers, stereo, AC (blows ice cold), trip computer. The trunk is immaculate, but does not have the rubber half mat i have seen in other cars.
It recently passed VA safety inspection and has a current VA emssions inspection whic expires the end of September.
The engine starts right up and idles smoothly, particularly so after warming up. The vehicle drives well. I did not do a tune up to the car after aquiring it but since it has been sparingly driven and may have sat for extended periods, believe that it could use one. According to my local mechanic who checked it before purchase and performed a fuel injector cleaning service and replaced the fuel filter, it does not have any timing or ignition issues.
The transmission shifts properly and does not slip or "slam" into gear.
The suspension in my opinion is very good-no front end clunks or odd noises and it seems to soak up bumps well. Again, having not driven Cadillacs of this vintage before, i cant compare it to anything, but it does have that "floaty" ride at speed that i understand these cars are known for.
The steering appears good and responsive and i dont notice any noise or odd behavior from the steering column. Overall, it just seems to be a good riding car, particularly for 24 years old. It does have new brakes, new battery, two new tires (on the rear wheels) and a new AC compressor.
As i stated in the listing, i encourage you to ask as many questions as possible and i will answer them to the best of my knowledge. I believe this is a good car. Not perfect and not without the potential need for minor work either in the short term or long term. But it certainly is a very beautiful car in good shape that is immediately serviceable.
