1996 Cadillac Eldorado ETC – Nice!

Note: This description may get a little lengthy because I want to give you potential buyers as much information as possible to help determine that this is the right car for you. So, for those of you who don’t have the patience to read a lot of info, here is the short version: This is a nice car. Buy it. You may now proceed to the “Buy it Now” feature. Enjoy your car.

I purchased this car in April of 2004 when it had about 34,000 miles on it. Today it has 93,309 miles on it. I am either the 2nd or 3rd owner of the vehicle, I don’t recall for sure. I bought it from a local Cadillac salesman. It was his wife’s personal ride. The car is a real head turner. Beyond expected routine maintenance, this car has had zero mechanical needs the entire time I have owned it. It is a luxurious, smooth riding vehicle that oozes style and has plenty of cool features.
Unlike some sellers, I WILL point out all known flaws and defects and try to show them with pictures. There is another Cadillac Eldorado ETC auction I saw where the car is described as “mint” but if you look carefully, in one of the pictures you can tell that the steering wheel is all ragged out looking! In closer interior pictures, they have clearly cropped out the eyesore so you can’t see it. Wow! What else might you get surprised with?
First, there is the dual zone climate control system. This enables the passenger to be up to 5 degrees warmer or cooler than the driver. This is truly a marriage enhancement feature. It has done wonders to reduce bickering between my wife and I on trips (She is always hot, I am cold.) It has driver and passenger heated seats, which is an absolute pleasure in the winter. There are controls on the steering wheel to adjust the temperature as well as the stereo.
The ASTROROOF is a cool option on the car. With the push of a button it can either be completely open like a “moon roof” or propped open like a sunroof.
It has a premium sound system with the optional factory 12 disc CD changer and Bose speakers.
It has the striking Cadillac factory chrome wheels.
12 position power adjustable driver and passenger seats. These seats adjust more ways than any car you have ever owned, guaranteed. In addition to the standard adjustments that all cars can do, the part of the seat that you sit on can be elevated or lowered and tilted forward or back! There is also a very comfy lumbar support that can be adjusted higher, lower, more support, less support, to suit your taste.
Automatic trunk pull down. There is a motor in the trunk and a mechanism that pulls the trunk lid down and latches it. No slamming required.
The car has had new disc brakes and rotors installed on the front and rear within the past month. The air conditioner works and cools the car, but it is not ice cold like it used to be. It could probably do with a system charge.
The paint is in very good shape for a car this age. On the closest inspection, you would notice a tiny chip here or there, but nothing noticeable. If it was on a dealer lot these few imperfections would easily be concealed with a little touch up paint.
The pictures will show you how beautiful the paint is. Please note that on the close-up of the door, you can see a reflection of some white clover growing in my yard, please don’t mistake this for spots on the paint… it isn’t. The paint is just so shiny that the pics are picking up reflections.
This looks and runs great. Like most 12 year olds, it has picked up a few blemishes which I will attempt to describe in detail and show in pictures.
As I type this, I am not aware of what order the pictures will display. So, I will type a list of the cosmetic flaws that you can look for in the pictures:
· There is a very shallow dent on the passenger door (trim high). I have to take credit for this one. I was pulling away from a drive-up ATM machine and forgot about the short post sticking out of the ground on the passenger side of my vehicle that some genius had installed to create a “lane” for driving up to the ATM. I quickly realized my mistake before things got really ugly, but not soon enough to avoid the post creating a very shallow depression in the door. I suspect that it could be fixed fairly easily, but it is so hard to notice, I never bothered with it.
· The plastic trim along the bottom of the passenger door is cracked on the end towards the rear tire. Yeah, I did it. When jacking up this vehicle, it is important to place the jack at the designated points along the side of the car. I started jacking once at the wrong spot and buckled the trim at that spot. I ended up just breaking off the end of the trim piece that was left dangling. Yes, I felt like an idiot.
· There are some light scuffs on the top of the roof on the passenger side. You guessed it, I did this. For reasons that are still unknown to me, I began lowering the garage door before I was fully pulled out and it began made contact with the top of the car. The effects of this incident buffed out for the most part, but as I said, there are some light scratches that can be seen if you look close. These are so faint that the camera would not even pick them up, but I wanted to mention EVERYTHING that I know of.
· The inside trim panel in the backseat area is separating away from the wall of the vehicle. This can be seen if you look closely into the interior thru the rear window in the picture taken from the rear of the car. I DID NOT CAUSE THIS. What do you think, I’m some kind of idiot? This was like this when I bought the car. I was told that the reason for this was a design flaw in the model itself. When the sun comes in thru the back window, it heats up the trim and caused this effect over time. This is so common that Cadillac actually made a part number for a kit to repair / replace this defect. I am sure that you can find that out there somewhere if you cared to fix it. It didn’t bother me enough to fool with it.
· The leather interior is in outstanding shape. The only flaw is a seam that has developed a split on the armrest of the driver door panel.

· the surprisingly good gas mileage that the Northstar Engine provides
· and the fact that this was a $49,000 car when new! (That was a lot of money in 1996).

This car is from a non-smoking environment. Also, I tried to add this earlier (and ended up with the entire repeat of the description!)... the ETC badge has gone missing from the back of the vehicle. I did a search on eBay, they can be
