California residents add a minimum of 7.25% sales tax. $59.95 smog fee will be added to all qualifying vehicles. Some older vehicles may be higher. Vehicles sold to out of state buyers leaving California under their own power (not on a shipping vessel) are required to have a 1 (ONE) trip permit affixed to the window. This is mandatory unless the buyer is a licensed motor dealer, dismantler or wholesaler. This permit entitles the operator of the vehicle to drive the vehicle to the destination indicated on the permit and expires when that destination is reached. These permits cost $30.00 US dollars and will be added to the purchase price of any vehicle leaving the custody of Elton Auto Sales going outside California that has any part of the vehicle touching the ground.
