Vehicle Description
.....Most K5 Blazers/Suburbans in this area all suffer the same fate: Rot and neglect. This particular K5 diesel has the distinct fortune of both maintenance and geography to have saved it from the same circumstances.
One problem exists, however, and I've gone to several different mechanics, and received several different answers, ranging from mildly expensive to atrocious. Truthfully, I don't want to sell this car, but I cannot afford my alternatives, so I will explain as much as possible. I will safely say that the buyer must assume the car will need an engine rebuild. The car runs, drives, but smokes from the passenger side exhaust, and will need to be towed home.
I'll begin with the good: The condition is amazing for this area-The chrome is bright, and the few areas of rust are photographed for the buyer to see-All are, for the most part, superficial-I've owned much newer chevy's with far worse!
The Interior is a true survivor-The dash is free of cracks, the painted areas are scratched, but not at all unpresentable-The upholstry? Typical stains to be expected, and three out of four original floormats are still present-The car even still has matching throw-pillows for the rear seat!
The carpeting, as to be expected, has over two-hundred thousand miles worth of wear. It is still in decent condition!
The original radio is present-And it works! All power functions are in operating order, with the only problem being the rear window-As typical, operation is slow, and it will need a new regulator. It will only function from the dash switch, rather than the key.
The A/C? COLD!! The whole system was re-done about a year and a half ago-It was still dealer owned at that point, but the radiator was also replaced. Tube-style running boards are present. The car also has a new starter, and two matching red-top gel-cell batteries, which I had installed. It also has true dual exhausts.
Don't get me wrong-This is NOT a mint-condition vehicle-It is, however, a remarkable survivor that was maintained over the years by a dealer/owner. In real terms, it's a 5 out of 10 if you lived in California, Florida, or other low-rust areas, however, in the tri-state area, it's a rarity!
Here's the bad:
The previous owner was a dealer, who drove the car to the Manheim auto auction, but it supposedly developed a "stuck injector," which I was assured would be fixed when I took delivery-It never happened! The car belches white smoke out of the passenger's side of it's dual exhausts-On my way home, I was pulled over for it! The state trooper also pointed out something else-I was either spitting out oil or diesel fuel.
I can't afford the repairs-This is truly a truck that I paid $3,500.00 for a year ago, another $600.00 for "repairs," $300.00 in Optima Batteries, and I've only had the chance to drive it 50 miles. Please, don't contact me with ridiculous offers, as they will be ignored.
As seen in the photographs, the paint is starting to blow off certain areas. It definately needs a repaint. The rust that I can see is photographed-Not bad!
The title is a clear N.J. title-The odometer is only a 5-digit, so when I went to register the car, it was assigned an "N" designation, for not actual miles. I'm guessing 256,000 just in case it has spun twice.
This will be an amazing project for someone with diesel skills-Unfortunately, I can't muster any of my own! Someone will be getting this K5 in rare cosmetic condition-Maybe it's a good candidate for your Bio-Diesel conversion, or 350 conversion!
I'll now say that any low/no/negative feedback bidders shouldn't bother-I WILL revoke your bid, unless you contact me first and explain. Foreign bidders? Pound salt-I've already dealt with three morons trying to pass a fake cashier's check. As such, all bidders must call me at 732-261-7660, as you're not exactly buying a golf ball, so I need to verify that all potential buyers are serious! Thanks for looking!
