This is a 1985 Camaro Z28 i had originally purchased to build a drag car. since i don't have the time or money to spare to undertake this project i am selling this vehicle. car would make a great shell for use as a drag car or would make for a good restoration project. i am willing to let it go very cheap, since it is still a good running car.
The car has a 4 barrel 305 small block V8 and a 700R4 trans. the car also has had the diff. gears changed, i am not sure what the ratio is but it isn't the stock ratio. my best guess is a 3.73:1. car has about 160,000 miles.
the good:
The car is in safe, drivable condition. I consider it roadworthy, and have driven it to work on multiple occasions, which is a 40 mile round trip with city and highway driving.
Both engine and trans run very well considering the car's age. The engine runs smooth and transmission shifts smooth under cruise and sharp under full throttle. The car isn't fast since it is only a stock 305, but the engine pulls strong.
The underbody is solid. The car passed Indiana state emissions for 2008. The amenities work (except for the radio)--the heat, air conditioning, HVAC controls, power windows, power locks, and rear hatch release all work. The car has had a recent tuneup. The back tires have lots of tread left. The front brake pads, rotors, and wheel bearings are brand new. The front turnsignal lamps have been replaced and it has new headlights as well. T-tops are functional. Car has new wheelcaps on the 15" aluminum wheels.
The bad:
Most of the car's faults are cosmetic, it has a handful of mechanical faults which are easily corrected..
The mechanical faults include the car needing the following: Driver door hinge pin, front tires, front struts, rear shocks, trans mount, and the exhaust from the axle back. It currently has the muffler and over-axle piping removed, so you will have to replace the exhaust piping from the axle back to the tailpipes. The car is also missing the smog pump and the airlines for it, so if your area requires a smog check you will have to replace these items. Lastly, the speedometer sensor in the gauge cluster is bad, thus the speedo doesn't work and it is setting off the check engine light, and is the ONLY thing setting of the check engine light.
The cars cosmetic faults include both interior and exterior. The t-tops weather stripping leaks, which is the cause of most of the interior soiling and odor. The carpet, seats, and door panels are soiled. Because of the leak the car is missing the headliner and the sunvisors. Both interior door handles are broken (doors will still open from the inside with a handy flathead screwdriver.) Driver side door will not open from the outside because the linkage in the door came loose (easy fix if you remove the door panel and reattach).
As for the exterior, the entire car is grey primer because factory paint is in poor shape and is chipping badly. The vehicle needs to have the paint stripped off and the sheetmetal sanded, and a repaint. Could also new fenders since the driver fender is bondoed and both fenders are rusted.
