This is a solid performing 1987 Chevrolet Caprice Estate Wagon with the proven and respected 305 cubic inch engine capable of 23-24 miles per gallon on the highway. There are no known defects on the vehicle except as noted: windshield wipers will not shut off unless engine is shut off. Cruise control is not presently operable. All power windows work except the front passenger (right) side. Fan works but in two settings only. Air conditioning is questionable as we've not used it in years.
Car starts easily, engine runs strong without missing or hesitation, and the transmission shifts smoothly. Drives and handles well with solid tracking (no wobbles, shakes or shimmies) and its brakes seem good. This Arizona car was carefully maintained as a new vehicle in 1987, and we've enjoyed its ride, roominess, and reliability as the original owners. It has not been abused or driven harshly. It served us well for several years as our principal family car and then became our secondary, utility, backup transportation driven only a few hundred miles a year lately.
Exterior condition is good except as the photographs reveal on the right rear panel where there is some damage. Interior is surprisingly good for the miles with no tears in the upholstery or headliner. Dashboard is cracked as is the windshield. Tires are not new but still have several thousand miles of wear left. Recent work includes Transmission and Cooling System service and flush at 302,917 miles.
This car is perfectly driveable and an excellent candidate for restoration. It has never been in an accident and has only suffered exterior damage as noted. Notably clean and comfortable for a car of this age and mileage. We are considering advertising it locally.
