Vehicle Description Up for auction is. . . (Among other things) the vehicle you would get if you combined the Dukes of Hazzard with The Clampetts. Think of it as a superhero vehicle giving hope to the working lower class in oh say, Appalachia. This true American legend is finally being retired from the highway. Not only is this car so big that it has two nicknames, but they're both painted on the vehicle. "The Grocery Getter" and the "Dollar General Lee" (which is a reference combining the General Lee and our beloved American low budget grocery store chain, Dollar General). Car even has a cd player and the Dukes of Hazzard air horn (although not currently working). What is under the paint? 1986 Chevy Caprice Classic Estate. Oldsmobile built V-8, 307 in³ (5 L) engine with 4 barrel carb. Fisher frame (built like a tank). The car has 167, 994 miles and is in running condition. Being sold as is due to age issues and since it hasn't been driven for a few months. Infact, up until 2 years ago this was a daily driver. The car does have some rust issues (see pics). Also, there is a good amount of bondo on both middle-side doors and passenger front. We painted and stenciled the car a few years back with outdoor enamel (which has seen the elements). Please read: Last year the car was hit in a parking lot (low impact) and dented the driver rear corner (pics) and as a result the tailight assembly has been wired in place. Insurance company called it totaled (b/c of the car's value) and said the title would be salvaged. I called the Missouri DMV and they said the title is clear??? With that being said I would definitely look at this car as a demo derby car (already got the paint scheme) or something you could put in a parade in Kentucky. I do have a reserve amount of $400. Because of the car's size it can provide a feasable place to live for a family of seven if I ever need to go that route. This car has gotten tons of attention on the highway and is sure to get laughs wherever you live. Its ridiculous presence in your yard may even help restore your marriage but likely will do nothing for male pattern baldness. Happy bidding! Also, my apt. complex is sick of it so it really needs to leave ASAP after the auction. Because the plates are expired and hasn't been driven much lately it should be towed or trailered away. On Jul-20-08 at 09:11:12 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE READ: Car sold as is If your intention is to have this car legal on the streets then you're buying at your own risk: Not sure if it will past a safety inspection Consider a possibly salvaged title even though DMV says it appears to be clean (saying it could show up later in the system??) On Jul-20-08 at 11:51:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Title Clarification from another ebayer Just thought I would clear you up on the title business. The car would have a salvage title if the insurance company had bought the car from you after the wreck. But since you decided it keep it, the title stayed clear. Meaning since the title never left your name, it was impossibe for it to be salvage. If you had sold the car to the insurance company after the wreck, the title would have gone to their name, been converted to a salvage title, and then the car would have been sold at auction. Once again, since the cars title never left your name, it is impossible for the car to have a salvage title. The title is free and clear. The carfax report will show it was wrecked, but the title never will. Hope this helps.
