This is a very unique, one of a kind custom Chevrolet pickup with a mid mount motor that I am selling for a friend / neighbor. He is a machinist who hand built this street rod himself and has driven it since. The following is his description of the vehicle, if you have any specific questions relating to his pickup truck I suggest you call him directly (320) 212-2057.
This 1958 Chevrolet was completed in 2001, with rear engine and drive. Powered by a 400 cubic inch small block, with 5.7 inch connecting rods, 2.02 1.6 Brodix aluminum heads, Hi-Tech Mcfarland Torklink intake, 650 holly carb, hi-flow oil pump, and exhaust headers (baffles are bolted inside the collectors). The transmission is a 425 Turbo Hydra-Matic cooled by a large transmission cooler under the cab, after the transmission the rear end gears are 4.86. Four wheel disc brakes coupled with four wheel independent suspension. In the cab there are two RCI five point harnesses with drag bucket seats, with ultra lite Auto Meter gauges and a Hurst floor shifter.
The rear frame is 1974 Oldsmobile Toranado. The front frame is 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Body work and paint are drivable, with seven and a half years of wear and tear. Windshield wipers are for looks only, motor and linkage were removed to shave weight. Needs four new tires.
Steering and brakes are both manual and both function well. Handling is quite good considering the whole package but 4.86 rear end gears let you know that you if have fast starts and RPM's on the road. Notice there are no mirrors, they will need to be installed to fit your taste.
The winning bidder will have a real head turner. How many mid engine pickups do you know driving around. Thanks for looking.
