Up for sale is a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Extended Cab 4x4. The truck comes with a Blizzard extending snowplow that works great. The only reason I am selling this truck is I have stopped plowing snow and need something different.
First the good. The engine runs great and starts everytime. I would take this truck anywhere and have done so. Many of the miles are highway miles and the truck has been well cared for. My dad bought it new and used it as his work truck. The truck was maintained by the same mechanic and all routine maintenence was done regularly and on time. We plowed snow with it from the time it was new and all of the parts typically worn down by snowplowing have been replaced at least once and most front end components were replaced shortly before the truck stopped plowing snow. The transmission was replaced at about 100,000 miles and has a cooler. When I took possession of the truck, an electrical problem in the shift lever occured and caused it to be replaced. There is a tow/haul option with a switch in the shifter that caused the problem. The snowplow works well and is easy to connect and disconnect. The four wheel drive works well, but the auto fourwheel drive function no longer works. There is a break controller for trailers that works well.
Now the down sides. You can get through the summer, but if you will be driving in snow, it will need some new back tires. Overall the paint job is in good condition but there is normal wear for a truck with almost 170,000 miles. There are scratches and both back corners of the truck. One is from a trailer getting rubbed against it and the other is from a retaining wall. Niether are serious and could go untouched. Note that these two cosmetic problems are not representative of the way the truck was treated or cared for. There is an exaust leak at the manifold that can be heard when the engine is cold, but goes away when the engine warms up. The interior is in pretty good shape but does show wear typical of a truck of this age and mileage. A gatorade leaked out on the passenger side rear seat and left a stain. If I can get it out, I will make a note of it. Overall, there is nothing seriously wrong with this truck and I would not be afraid to take it across the country.
I have a fiberglass lid for the truck but it is not pictured. I will try to get some pictures of it asap. The lid is in good shape and looks great on the truck.
