Vehicle Description
The vehicle you are viewing today was going to be my project vehicle for a straight vegetable oil conversion and a lifted beast. I have since bought a different truck as a project and this has to go. My loss is your gain. This truck is a great platform for any project you can think of, or you can just drive it.
For the first 252,000 miles this truck was an escort vehicle traveling the highways. 95% of this truck’s mileage is all highway! Therefore, I wouldn't call this a NY truck. The next 4,000 miles were put on by a construction company that traded the truck in as it wouldn’t start. I ended up with the truck from a dealer and shortly there after I installed instant-heat glow plugs from SS Diesel. Since then I have put over 2,000 miles on the truck as a daily driver and it has always started easily.
I have averaged 22.5 MPG with the truck on country roads! It is loaded with all the bells and whistles except a leather interior and power seats.
It has a heavy duty chassis that is 1 ton rated and is ready for towing a camper or car trailer. According to the dealer the full float 14 bolt rear was rebuilt 25,000 miles ago and the 4L80E transmission was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago. I have no record of this but I can tell the tranny has been out. The truck recently passed inspection where it was found that the truck has recent shoes, pads, rotors, and exhaust system. Tires are fair, but probably will not pass inspection next year. Underside of truck is perfect.
The body of the truck is fair but comes with its scratches and dings from wear and tear on a 14 year old truck. The most prominent dents in the body are on the quarter panels where the truck was pushed around the dealership and the bumper bent. I have found one area of rust on the vehicle, and it is on the left passenger door. Pictures are included. The paint is not perfect but the truck is by all means a 50 footer.
The interior is in very nice shape for mileage and age. Buckets up front and single 60/40 bench in the back. No tears and stains in the seats. The carpet is in great shape with a few stains in the cargo area. The driver door needs attention with the door bushings. The a/c compressor needs to be replaced and the cruise control is not working. I found a broken wire behind the turn signal lever, I believe it is to the cruise control. Someone cut the antenna wire for the radio, the tape deck works great. The tailgate works great; however the window does not lock. The hasp is loose and needs to be tightened.
There are a few things on this truck that need attention: Driver side door hinge Rear bumper Rear hatch Cruise control A/C compressor Antenna to am/fm
The drivetrain is good, the body is fair and the interior is great. This truck is ready to go. I would drive across the country and back and be confident it would be trouble free. Since I have owned the truck I have invested $69.99 into glow plugs and nothing else. I hate to get rid of it but I don’t have kids and don’t need the extra seating, and wife says it has to go. So a pick-up has replaced it. Otherwise I would not sell it.
I will put about 70 miles on this truck before the auction is over.
