1967 Chrysler Newport Convertible Original Paint and Interior "you never have to wonder about the body condition when you have original paint." This auction is for my immaculate 1967 Chrysler Newport convertible. I am the 3rd owner and have owned it for 6 years. The 2 previous owners lived in the same town where it was sold new; Chambersburg, PA. The car has always been babied and garaged its entire life as evident by the excellent condition of the original paint and interior. All of the bright work: the grille, headlight bezels, tail light bezels, dash cluster, radio bezel....all of it is original, gorgeous, and a testimony to how much care this car received throughout the years. The engine, transmission, and differential are the original "left the factory with" units. The 383 2bbl. V-8 engine was treated to a 4bbl. carb and aluminum intake (it's painted to match engine) when I first purchased it in 2002. Last year the freeze plug under the right motor mount started to leak, so after 73,000 miles I thought I would go ahead and rebuild it. The engine was bored .030 over and received new cam and main bearings as well as new pistons, rods, rod bolts, new camshaft, push rods, rocker arms, valve springs, heads rebuilt with hardened seats and bronze guides for unleaded gas, and I had the rotating assembly balanced....it was just another $250 and if you're going to do it, do it right. Balancing allows the engine to run extra smooth and you can really feel the difference. The transmission is a 727 and works properly as do the brakes and rear end. I installed an aftermarket front sway bar as this is a big car and I thought it could benefit from the stiffening...it works quite well. The interior is amazing in that it is all original....even the carpet. The original full length one-piece floor mats get a lot of credit for saving the carpet as there is no fading between the passenger foot compartments like one might normally see. The steering wheel is excellent and has no cracks in it. All of the gauges function properly and are clear and clean like they were almost new. The AM radio works great and I have added a SIRIUS Stilletto Satellite radio with remote (I had a bracket formed so that it would affix to the underside frame of the dash and float over the carpet...it is not cut or drilled into the dash or floor.) I had the power window motors rebuilt 3 or 4 years ago and they all work. The lights all work, the dimmer works, turn signals, hi beams...all work as they should. The top is original, in very good condition, and works without fault. The vinyl tonneau cover is the original factory one and has the date of production stamped underneath. The seat belt buckles are in excellent shape though the belts are faded. The driver's door armrest has a 2 inch split along the side from age....these are the only flaws that I know exist. When you are buying a classic car, you want one that has a good owner history and has been well cared for....provenance is everything There is no better validation that a car has been well cared for and maintained than when it is wearing it's excellent original paint and interior and the conditon of the original brightwork is outstanding. We have all heard it before, but "They are only original ONCE!" Should you have any questions please call 336-202-8762, or e-mail thru "ask seller a question". I have 100% feedback and have described the vehicle as accurately as possible. This is a 41 year old car and, as you know, this sale is "AS-IS, WHERE IS" and there is no warranty expressed or implied. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and arangements. Thanks and good luck!
