1973 Datsun 240Z
Offered at auction is a 1973 240Z. It is very sound mechanically with a strong 6 cylinder engine that runs great. The 4 speed manual transmission is in very good order as are the clutch and brakes. This is an exciting car to drive with plenty of power and wonderful handling characteristics.
The car was resprayed British Racing Green by the former owner. The paint is not perfect but is very presentable. The chrome is generally presentable with some pitting on the bumpers. The underside is pretty clean with a small amount of typical surface rust but no rot. The body and frame are very solid. The doors, hood, and rear hatch are straight, and close solidly and evenly. The glass is all good. The windows all work nicely as do all the gages and radio. All electrical systems (horn, wipers, lights, ignition, etc) are in good working order.
The interior upholstery is all original and in excellent condition with the exception of a small crack in the headliner and a place on the drivers seat where the leatherette has separated over the backing (see photos). There are a couple of small cracks on the top of the dash which otherwise is very nice. The installed rear carpeting is excellent. I always intended to put new mats or better grade carpeting in the front footwells, but the existing carpets actually don't look too bad. Overall, the interior shows very well.
I have owned this car for over seven years, and have had a great deal of fun driving it on twisty rural backroads. As the first (and many insist, the best) version of the famous "Z" series, It always draws attention and admiration. It has never broken down on me nor has it ever required anything but routine maintenance. Take care of it and it will take care of you! Over the years, I have acquired a few too many cars and it is now time for this classic 240Z to move on to a new caretaker.
