Up for auction is this 1972 Dodge D-100 pickup finished in Carmel Tan and Tamarack Brown. It is equipped with a 318 2-bbl. V-8 engine, a 727 automatic transmission, power steering and heater. The brakes are four-wheel drum with no power assist. The truck is very complete and entirely serviceable. It needs nothing except a new set of tires to be completely roadworthy. All gauges, controls and lights work properly. The truck was bought new at Egolf Dodge in Hendersonville, NC and it has stayed in North Carolina its entire life. The first two owners were a father and then his son from Flat Rock, NC. I have had it for ten years and I am its third owner. The truck is located in Nebo, North Carolina, in the western part of the state. Nebo is between Asheville to the west, and Hickory toward the east along Interstate 40, and is 100 miles northwest of Charlotte. It is a very basic truck that sports the “Custom” trim level, which means very little exterior bright trim and a very Spartan interior with metal door panels and a rubber floor mat. The dealership had to add the power steering set-up and a pair of bumper guards to sell it when new, and I have added a right-side mirror, a day/night inside mirror and an AM/FM radio, all of the factory original type. No butchery has been performed to the dash or any other interior surfaces. This truck is in completely serviceable condition with 102,000 miles and it still has its original engine. I had to switch the transmission to a good used one with a 1974 date code this past March, but the very-rebuildable original tranny is included with the truck (it has a broken first-reverse band). If you win the truck, you will be able to drive it home if you so choose. Everything works, but I want to stress that while the truck is cosmetically presentable, nothing about it is “perfect”. It has typical Dodge rust in just about every body panel, some visible and some not, and the engine uses about as much oil as a well-maintained 36-year-old unrebuilt engine can be expected to use. But I also want to stress that you could probably drive and enjoy this truck for many years as-is. On the other hand, it is an excellent candidate for restoration or customizing if the buyer so chooses. The original family kept the truck almost totally original and, as an AACA enthusiast, so have I. Two deviations from stock are a “quiet” glasspack muffler for fuel economy and an upholstered steel overhead storage shelf above the windshield which can be easily removed. In the ten years that I have had it, the following items have been replaced or rebuilt: steel brake lines, master cylinder, water pump, fuel pump, engine mounts, universal joints, timing set, exhaust, radiator, carburetor (rebuilt), alternator (rebuilt), upholstery, cab floor pans and floor mat. This truck comes with the following “extras”: a factory 1972 dodge truck shop manual; a California Car Covers “cab cooler” which fits over the roof and windows; and five additional steel wheels. You are welcome to come and examine the truck before bidding or have someone else do it for you. It has a clear title, but not a current license plate or insurance so I would ask that it not be test-driven more than “up and down the road”. I will accompany you on the test-drive. The license plate and insurance was transferred to another vehicle within the last month, so the truck has not been off the road very long at all. More photos can be seen at: on my site If you have questions, please feel free to ask; I will gladly answer all. Happy bidding! Now for all of the “unpleasant” stuff: Because this truck is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end this auction early. This is an auction; if you win the auction, you have bought the truck, plain and simple. A $500 non-refundable cash deposit will be due within 3-business-days after the auction ends from the winner. The deposit must be made to me by Postal Money Order or cashier's check, no exceptions and absolutely no PayPal. The balance for the truck must be paid in full to me via Postal Money Order/cashier's check (again, no PayPal) within 7 days or I will consider the contract to be broken and I will re-list the truck, no exceptions. Although I don’t anticipate any problems, I nonetheless wish to let scammers know that they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I will only sell to buyers within the lower 48 United States. I will not transport vehicle, but I will work as best as I can with you to help you get the truck home. This truck and its title will not leave the premises until paid in full to my satisfaction and with no problems. I’m sorry that I have to be “that way”, but a few dishonest people unfortunately make it so for everyone else.
