got2go Store 1946 DODGE WB-21 tool box bed RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT Hello Folks, The time has come to auction our always faithful VINCENT THE 1946 Dodge WB-21 This truck has served us very well. It has been a great tool box during our home renovations. It has held my entire set of tools dry and in one place for many years. We have gone to the lumber yards and home centers to get plywood, lumber, roofing material and all sorts of other stuff over the past couple of years. The house is almost finished and I have bought a much newer van. Our next job is about 75 miles one way, so its just a little out of range for the old WB-21 everyday. The old truck will have to find a new owner and a new life some where else. Now folks, lets work out some of the math, lets see made in the U.S.A. in 1946 now it is 2008 and STILL running strong. So I count it as 62 years old. This truck starts up all the time, every time. It shifts in and out of all 3 forward gears and reverse as it should. It drives down the road very well. The rear tires are a military tire tread and I would replace them if I was to keep the truck. They do hold air but have some dry rot. The front tires look good. The brake pedal needs a few pumps now and then. So We have a brand new master cylinder for the new owners to install. Of course there are some other things that need some looking at. Like, the head light dimmer switch on the floor board, it is a little sticky and gets the head light to work intermittently. The headlight buckets have some rot, a common problem on these trucks. The horn works great and sounds like a cow. The dash gauges will need to be replaced but they do work. We have both clusters from a parts truck I had and they come with the truck. I do not have a replacement speedometer. It should not be hard to find.THERE ARE SOME HOLES IN THE DASH FROM THE SWITCHES FOR THE LIGHTS THAT WERE ON THE ROOF. The windshield frame on this truck is in very good condition and it will crank open and close with out any trouble. Most, of the time that is where the rust and rot starts on these trucks. The windshield frame and the seam above the windshield at the roof is where to look for rust or rot on these trucks. If these areas are good usually the rest of the truck is solid. The roof has some holes in it from a long time ago, when it had warning lights on it. The interior seat, headliner, door panels, and drivers side sun visor are all there and original but do show there age. This 1946 Dodge is a very solid truck. The bottoms of the doors are rust free and solid. Both of the windows in the doors open and close with ease. The running board have small holes were the brackets have rusted away from there mounting. The wooden blocks that were used to hold them down are gone so they are a little floppy. But the rest of the truck is all there and solid. The paint is long gone; it was repainted some where along the way. The truck was green with black fenders it was re painted red and black. The truck had been garaged most of its life. The truck had been a traffic signal maintenance vehicle for a municipality somewhere in the state of Pennsylvania. All of the Parts for this are VERY available from Robert Motor Parts.
