He purchased the car from a friend of his father, the original owner, who owned a small business across the street from his house. As he did not need to drive to work, the car mostly sat in his garage, which is why its retained such low mieage and a mostly clean body. The car was repainted some years ago, most likely in the early 80s. The original color can be seen in the last couple pictures of the inside of the trunk. This car was my Christmas Present on just before I turned 16 years old (8 Years ago). I bought a couple parts for the engine, which really helped the car come to life. This was a great car to learn to drive in, as it had enough power to get me around, but it wasn't so quick that I got into trouble with it! The most action the car ever saw was breaking the tires loose at a stop sign every once in a long while. That is, when I didn't flood the carb and stall for a few minutes :) My friends all loved the car, and we packed it full for trips to the beach and just driving around town during my last couple years in Highschool. The original door panels had seen some damage over the years, and I completely removed them, as well as the foam dash cover that had huge cracks in it from years absorbing the sunlight through the windshield. I had planned to sink a ton of money into this car, and ended up starting a business in the aftermarket automotive industry, which changed my plans and platform for my first build up. Sadly the car never got the attention it deserved, and I'm hoping I can find somebody to take this great starting point and built on it. If the car doesn't sell during my first auction, I may just fab up some door panels and sew up the headliner, or replace it all together. But in my experience, sometimes leaving these jobs to somebody who wants to truly customize or restore the project THEIR way, is the better option. If you have any questions about this car, please dont hesitate to ask me about it. It's located in Diamond Bar California, and is available for viewing in person. There is a leak in one of the transmission seals, which will need to be replaced before driving it. The engine runs great, and we can fire it up to let you listen and give it a few revs, but I'd not feel safe letting anybody drive the car until the tranny is resealed. It simply looses its fluid and will not go into gear without it, and this definitely would not make the transmission too happy, so as to not ruin what's not broke, that seal just needs to be replaced. After that the car will run like a champ all day long :) I hope my honesty here does not keep anyone from picking up where I've left off with this rare beauty. I've received tons of compliments from gear heads on the road for my Fairlane, even in its current condition, and I can't imagine the response when this thing is brought back to its prime!
