Vehicle Description
Looking for a rod project? I bought this as a project 3 years ago, and now am unable to complete it for financial reasons, so my loss is your gain.
This is a 1931 Ford Model A pickup that was possibly a commercial vehicle in the past, due to the livery logo on the door which reads "Co-operative Delivery Service". The rust is quite apparent, both on the surface and at the lower parts of the body panels where the rust has eaten clear through the metal. Hood is the original 4 piece split design wth louvered sides. All four original steel fenders and running boards are included. What you see is pretty much just as I acquired it, except for the Ford 9" rear axle, which I had professionally rebuilt last year. It has the smaller Ford bolt pattern , which explains the odd wheels that are mounted to the rear. The front wheels are the original 19" Model A wheels with the "big 5" bolt pattern.
ENGINE: Ford 351ci Windsor V8. Includes intake, 2 bbl carb, heads, and custom headers. I took the heads off to inspect the cylinders, and discovered sand on the pistons, indicating that it sat either with spark plugs missing, or the intake was unprotected from the weather. Obviously not running. The original radiator and stainless steel grille shell are included.
TRANS is a Ford C4 automatic. Condition unknown. No cooler or lines included. The driveshaft is here but not installed.
The frame is original 31 truck frame that has been extended 7 inches in the bed area. This was one of the reasons I originally liked this vehicle, because I am over 6 feet, and I had intended to lengthen the cab and make it a stretched roadster pickup. The extension is not shown, but appears to be properly done.
The photos show it in various stages of assembly. I mocked the body up with tape and chain to see how it could look as a closed cab, and also with out the cab back and doors to see how it would look as a roadster. The roof is nonexistent. The back window of the cab had apparently been welded shut with a piece of sheet metal. The bed has a few dents and creases in it, and the tailgate is included. The headlight bar is not shown, but is included.
The interior is not much to speak of, with no upholstery, no glass, no floor, no gauges or instruments, and no steering column. Seat springs are here with no padding or covers, but I believe they are original. Like I said, it's a project.
I have no title, and as I understand it, this vehicle has been off the record books for more than 20 years. Will be sold as-is with bill of sale only. Want to inspect it for yourself? Email me with your intentions and your phone number, and I'll call you back to set up an appointment. The last picture illustrates what I had planned for it all along until now. Thanks to the guy in that picture for the inspiration.
As far as shipping goes, you are going to need a trailer with a way to hold the loose parts down. I can offer delivery for $2.50 per mile one way within 150 miles. Please understand that the body is not bolted to the frame, it's pretty fragile to move.
I may have forgotten some of the details, so if ya got questions? I'll do my best to answer em properly. Thanks for looking.
