Up for sale is a 1997 GMC Suburban 1500 SLE 2WD. I hate to sell this truck but I just bought a 2007 Suburban (1/2 ton Bermuda Blue with the 6.0L motor - it took forever to find one). I bought this truck used with about 90,000 miles on it in 1998 and it's been my daily driver ever since. In November of 2004 I replaced the motor with a new (not rebuilt) GM Performance Parts HT 383 crate motor (340 HP 435 FT LBS). The truck had about 205,000 miles on it at the time. The HT383 block is externally identical to the original 5.7L. It came with brand new Vortec heads and uses the stock computer, intake and fuel system (new injectors were installed at the time). I also put in Gibson stainless steel headers (It already had a Gibson stainless cat back system). It has a great sound, not too loud, but the stock exhaust is included if you want to switch it back. Also done within the past year are the A/C condenser/evaporator (the A/C blows ice cold - both front and rear), heater core, brakes and shocks (replaced with top of the line Bilsteins) and the fuel pump was replaced in June 2008. In February I was up in Vermont when the transmission started slipping. I ended up replacing it with a new one from the Chevy dealer in Manchester. The truck had 270,000 miles on it at the time and I was told that the trans has a 3 year 36,000 mile GM warranty. I have all the paperwork on the motor and transmission. Some other nice features are dual front air bags, a 42 gallon fuel tank (speaking of fuel, you can expect about 13mpg around town and 17 on the highway), rear A/C and heat, transmission cooler, KN air filter and removable 3rd row seat. Also included is a homelink transmitter that I bought but never got around to installing. I also put in a posi rear and have a set of Pirelli snow tires mounted on the stock rims (which are included) and with this set up I've never had a problem in the snow. The summer tires are Pirelli Scorpion STR's (265/70R16) mounted on silver painted American Racing rims which I always thought looked great against the Dark Cherry/Quicksilver two tone paint on the truck. Speaking of the body, it's in great shape with a few nicks and dings as expected, but no rust at all. It has always been garaged so it looks really nice. The hood deflector is clear, painted body color from the back so there are no chips in it and it looks great. The interior is nice as well with comfortable cloth seats that have no rips, tears or crazy stains. I have changed the oil myself every 3000 miles always using Mobile 1 (I even have a couple of extra filters which I'll throw in since my new truck takes a different size) and this truck has never been smoked in. This truck runs great - no leaks, stalling or smoking - and I have every confidence that it will give it's new owner years of reliable service. It has a New Jersey inspection sticker that expires in October 2009. I really think you would have a hard time finding a 1997 that is in better shape at any mileage level. There are, however, a few things that don't work perfectly. The plastic handle cover for the rear seat fold down broke off (see picture - the seat still folds down, it just doesn't look as nice) and I never got around to getting a new one. The latch on the console and cover for the cupholders in the console is broken (if it bothers you, I've seen replacement consoles on ebay for $50). A couple of the lights for the radio presets are out, one of the dash lights is dim, and I can't seem to find the cigarrette lighter. Finally, I'm offering this truck at no reserve, and I don't have a "Buy it Now" price. You can feel free to contact me via phone (my cell is 201-981-9692) or e-mail (although I only check e-mail maybe once a day) with any questions but don't bother asking me to cancel the auction or make any deals outside ebay because I'm just going to let it run to completion and the winning bidder gets it. The truck is located in Kearny, NJ and if anyone wants to see it before bidding please contact me and I will make every effort to make myself available. I terms of payment, I will accept cash or a certified check only, and require a $1,000 deposit within a week unless firm arrangements to complete the transaction on a timely basis are made. The winning bidder will be responsible for picking up the truck or arranging transportation. I will do whatever I can to assist, and could probably get it somewhere in North Jersey if that would be helpful, but I'm not going to set up a shipment on a car carrier. Thanks for looking and good luck!
