You are bidding on a super clean, fun little 1993 Geo Metro XFI. For those who have never heard of the XFI model, there are some major differences between this and your regular run of the mill Metro. Although the normal Metro 5 speed gets 48-50 on the highway, this little guy blows it away with almost 10 miles per gallon more. The following is some information that was posted about an XFI vs a normal Metro here on ebay. .....the biggest difference is GM set out to make a super efficient vehicle. To this day it still holds the record as being the most efficient vehicle ever-even over the popular Hybrid engines. They designed a engine that would get incredible gas mileage. {53 city and 58 highway}The took a regular Metro and created the XFI.They went from a normal ring piston to a 2 ring piston, they advanced the timing, changed the cam, reworked the transmission with higher transmission gear ratios, changed the map on the computer controlled engine modules, took away the passenger rear view mirror to save weight and less drag , they put light weight seats in the XFI, they trimmed away different items making them 40% lighter than a regular Metro. They only came in 2 door models an they didn't come with a/c. The XFI were less than 10% made during the production years that only lasted 3 or 4 years during the early 90's and they discontinued production then because it did not appeal to the consumer at that time because gasoline was around a dollar per gallon. These cars are near impossible to find. A few months ago one sold on ebay for $6,100 with 160,000 miles on it. To truely understand and appreciate this car you have to drive it. The gas consumption is unreal. It has a little green light in the center of the gauge cluster that helps you get the most bang for your buck and get maxium gas mileage. You end up looking for the little light every time you shift. Here is Sac we are just getting to $4.00 a gallon on regular so you watch that little light. The city mpg is great to, but take this thing for a trip and the gas gauge barely moves. Please don't be fooled, this is no slow poke either, the car does move pretty good once it gets going. I like to wave hello to all the people filling up their Hummers as I cruise by in class and style!!! Yes class and style!! There is a lot of information on the web about these little cars and there is potential with this car to boost the mpg even higher-check out the web. It is a little plain inside and you are not going to get power everything and gps with this little guy, but at almost 60 mpg who cares!!! This car was in a very lite front end collision and was salvaged out by the ins company. I spent very little money at a pull it your self salvage yard and put the car back on the road in a day. It was checked for alignment and it spot on, it passed all California safety and smog tests and has current plates and tags till March 2009. Car has a good battery, good brakes, no radio ( the face plate is missing) good glass, nice clean little body with only a few parking lot dings here and there, nice light weight wheels, new tires, clean interior and the new owner will get to enjoy all the $$$ savings. The xfi starts right up every time, is very dependable, and runs and drives very nice. It can be driven home anywhere without any issues that I could see. Look at the pics and email with questions. Don't miss a chance to get a very rare and super mpg little car for those trips....past the gas station and on to your destination, it is hard to beat this little guy. Good Luck Car is selling as is where, there are no warranties implied expressed or given. Car must be paid for and picked up within 2 weeks of auction close. A deposit of $1000 needs to be paid with 2 days of auction end. I will be happy to pick up the winner bidder from the airport or at the local bus/train terminal.
