Vehicle Description
A 1998 Honda Prelude for a starting price of only $3899 and NO RESERVE!!!
You are bidding on a 1998 Honda Prelude. We are having a new baby so it's time to sell my other baby!
This 1998 Honda Prelude includes: 2.2 liter VTEC 4 cylinder with a tiptronic automatic transmission, power locks, power windows, power steering, power sunroof, cruise, AM/FM CD player, newer tires, COLD AC!, and more.
This car is not perfect, but for the money it is a great little car. I purchased this Prelude from a mechanic a year ago and he had just put in a motor out of a 2001 Prelude. At that time, he changed the timing belt, water pump, and all new belts. The donar car had 80k miles on it so the engine still has a lot of life left in it. The engine runs absolutely perfectly! The idle is smooth and it gets about 25-26 mpg. Sometimes it shifts a little hard when starting out, but the car is very reliable and efficient. All the power items and the cruise control work great. THE AC WILL FREEZE YOU OUT! I just put in new headlights and buffed out most of the haze on the headlight covers. The car is black with black interior. The interior is about like the exterior. It doesn't look too bad unless you get picky. The previous owner did a little "customizing" on a few of the removeable dash pieces (spray paint) and it is beginning to flake off. It could be removed pretty easily with a little "elbow grease" or repainted and the interior would look great again. The seats are in good shape with the exception of a couple of cigarette burns. I was surprised to notice that the car doesn't smell like smoke after seeing these marks. I am a non-smoker and I can't smell anything so please don't let that scare you off. Also, the CD player is not working. It worked when I bought the car so it probably just needs a cleaning. The radio works great. It is the stock unit so an aftermarket system would probably be a better option anyway. Also, I only have one key and no remote fobs. Remote keyless entry was standard so a remote could be purchased from the dealer or on eBay and programmed to the car. The key I have is the factory key, but is pretty worn so sometimes you have to jiggle it a little to turn it. Once you figure it out it's not a big deal.
The exterior looks great at a glance. When you look closer you will notice a few scratches, dents, etc. I have included numerous photos of both the interior and exterior so you can see the condition. At some point the car had a rear fender-bender because there is a little bondo on the right rear quarter panel (see picture) and the bumper has some discoloration in the paint (from flexing I think). The car rolls straight and doesn't vibrate or pull when driving. Also, in the trunk, some of the cloth liner is missing (see picture).
Like I said, the car is not perfect, but it's still a great-looking and fun car to drive and is half the price of a perfect one!
There are not too many Preludes left out there and especially the last body style so don't let this one get away!!
Please keep in mind that this auction is a binding agreement. The car is sold "as is" and no warranty is offered. If you change your mind, after winning the bid, I will not refund the $200 unless there is some valid reason for you backing out of the deal. I have attempted to include numerous photos of the car from all angles so it is your responsibility to look closely and decide if you want the car BEFORE bidding.
Thanks and good luck!
