Vehicle Description
Rare? You want rare? Less than 700 built in 1959 and 1960 according to the authority, Fred Crismon's 'International Trucks'. I believe this one may have originally been billeted with the USAF, as the paint appears to be closer to their Strata Blue than the blue polychromatic that was used on civilian trucks of this period. The data plate has also been relocated to the driver side kick panel, the military didn't like them on doors(a service part). I haven't checked to see if the drain plugs are magnetic, that's another military clue.
The truck is very solid with only one significant rust issue I'm aware of. Some brilliant PO welded a roof rack to the drip rails. This in turn trapped debris between the rack rails and the outer edges of the roof, causing the rust perforation you see in the pics. It's not tragic, and it's certainly a better situation to fix than one that's rusted from the inside out. The curvature is easily bent by hand into a patch panel, and the compound fore/aft is so slight that it's pretty easy to fake when you weld up your patches. I can also throw in some patch cuts from a B series Travelall roof if you'd prefer to work with that. Other than that there is minor rust in the front floors and front floor corners. I took the pics without cleaning up the loose scale so you'd see the 'worst case' scenario, but it's really much better than the pics make it look.
BD-240 engine is free, and was running well enough to drive the truck onto the trailer when I brought it home. Gas in the tank needs to be drained as usual, and a carb rebuild wouldn't hurt. Service brakes naturally need attention from sitting.
Great opportunity to add a B series Travelette to your collection, you rarely see one for sale. I really like this truck, and the reserve is high enough that you need to be willing to pay a fair market value. I've been collecting IH for over 20 years, and I do tend to pay attention to values. That said, the reserve is *very* realistic, so please bid early and often!
In addition to the terms of sale, please note that I will be traveling on business the week of 5/19 and I'm unsure about my internet connectivity during that trip. Please don't wait until the last minute to ask your questions, and please understand that the winning bidder may not get contact from me until Friday 5/24. The deposit is still due 24 hours after the close whether you hear from me or not!
I am moving and have a hard deadline, so please abide by these terms: $100 non-refundable deposit by Paypal only within 24 hours of auction close. Balance is due by 7 days from auction close by Paypal only. Vehicle must be picked up in San Luis Obispo, CA no later than 30 days from auction close or all monies are forfeit and the vehicle may get scrapped. Sorry, but that's the reality of the situation so please be prepared to work within those guidelines. I will gladly work with your shipper to get the truck loaded, it is your responsibility to get them here in a timely fashion. Because of my situation I do also have this for sale locally and must reserve the right to pull the listing. Please submit any and all questions as soon as possible so I have time to get you the best answer possible. Thanks for looking!

The pair of front fenders in the bed are in much better condition than the ones on the truck, and are included.
