I just finished my enlistment with the Coast Guard and had been living on an Island in the southeast of Alaska when I happen upon this truck. I needed a second vehicle to haul my stuff home and I love classic trucks. I purchased the vehicle from a older man who had (it is still in the glovebox) maintained this vehicle with a record book of every oil change and every lube job. everything. The body has rust because this is an Island where there is a lot of rainfall per year but no salt is used there in the winter and the frame on this truck is in great shape. No weak spots on the frame any where. I checked the gas mileage on every tank on my way home and I averaged from seattle to wisconsin 21 miles per gallon!!! that was at slower than normal speeds though 60 to 65 This is a 1973 scout 2 with removable hardtop and 4x4. This has an excellent motor (international 345ci) with no leaks at all. I recently (about a thousand miles ago) did a full tune/oil/lube on the engine and truck with a complete distributor rebuild, new plugs and new wires. the engine was timed and is in perfect running order. I put the oem temperature thermostat in the engine at the same time as the tune up and flushed the radiator and refilled with prestone. The engine does not burn any oil (from seattle to wisconsin with a load) and has been very well maintained. It has a weber carburator and a KN filter. The engine also has electronic msd ignition control system. The engine has headers that sound good and are not leaky. The whole exhaust system is rust free and solid all the way to the rear bumper. The man that owned it before me had just put a new clutch in, and the manuel transmission works perfect as well as the the front hubs ( move smoothly while locking into position) The driveshafts have no slop in them and there are no leaks any where in the whole drivetrane. The brakes are good all the way around the rear has drums and the front is rotors an the all have good pad left. The leaf springs are all solid with no rust (very little surface rust) and can hold a load ( I put a good bit in coming home) The interior has been re-done with buckets seats and a re-upholstered rear seat. the carpeting is also excellent. all the gauges work and there is a oil, vacuum, clock cluster built into the floor. The truck also has a working rpm gauge. The rims are aftermarket and are in excellent shape as well as the tires which are bigfoot brand and have like new tread. They probably have two thousand miles on them. The truck has hella lights on the front but I have not gotten them to work but I barley looked at the wiring for it. This truck also excellent wiring and has a new dome light unit installed and a rear cargo area light installed. All the doors hood and rear tailgate work very well as well as all of the windows. The heater blows hot and works very well. The wipers work well and also have wiper delay. The steering wheel is a grant gt and is very nice to hold. There are rancho shocks on the front and rear but they are getting old but still do the job. Gas tank and Gas tank straps are all rust free as well (straps have been replaced) Overall this is an excellent truck and a strong mechanical performer. I purchased this with plans to rebuild the body (as you can see there is a good bit of body rust) as the frame is solid, including the floor and firewall. All of the panels needed for this scout are available online at various websites. (scoutparts.com ect. ) I was going to plow snow on my land with this truck and rebuild the body next summer but I have a lot of Irons in the fire and this is one I need to pull out. I am willing to drive this truck to you. If you pay for gas I will drive this vehicle any where you are, and will need a greyhound ticket home to LaCrosse WI. I do not care how far you are I will drive there if you are willing to do that. As I mentioned above gas milage is around 21 going slow on the highway. Thanks for your time and please do not waste mine, do not bid if you are not serious, I have 100% feed back on large, expensive items so please do not bid if you are not a responsible ebayer as well. Michael
