Description
>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1973 Jaguar E-Type XKE V12 Convertible EXTRA, EXTRA read all about this amazingly beautiful, amazingly rare and mostly original Jaguar E-type XKE Convertible and view all the beautiful pictures too! This car has been garage-kept and meticulously maintained over it's lifetime. Cosmetically this unrestored, original daily driver looks almost new and only it's repainted exterior in original bright red and the newer tan softop is unoriginal. This Jag's well-kept original interior is a testament to how much pampering this car has been privy to over the years. This is not a concours car and has not been restored, but it is in amazingly good original condition. The beautiful, 11-coat paintwork was done 15-years ago to correct the original paint's fade, chips and scratches and not due to an accident. Mechanically, this XKE needs a little engine work to correct a slight misfire and all the electronics work great except for a few minor items. Please read the "Condition" section of this auction for all the details. This XKE V12 comes complete with a tonneau cover, original jack kit, original "knock-off" wheel hammer kit, and car cover. The NADA High retail on these Jaguars is $126,000 and many like ours are selling around the country for near $80,000, but our Reserve is way below those figures and is even below the NADA Average retail of $65,950. And, our Jaguar is in above average condition so you can do the math a see that we are offering some lucky winning bidder a really good deal. We are sure there will be questions because all the details on this rare Jaguar are too numerous to list, so feel free to contact Rob Carpenter, Digital Marketing Manager, at 757-898-1200 or via email at rob@autohausva.com.

Additional Comments:
This Jaguar XKE V12 is indeed a rare automobile. It is not a concours car, it is not even a restored car, but a mostly original, largely unmolested survivor and daily driver with some minor deficiencies to note. Cosmetically, the car was repainted about 15 years ago due to the original paint's fade, chips and scratches, but not due to any accident or damage. The paint is the original color and it looks great all over. There is hardly even a tiny scratch. There are two noticeable chips. One is at the bottom edge of the hood on the left side, near the bottom-front of the left door. The other chip is on the top edge of the right door at the rear. The bright chrome is all in very good condition with only very minor pitting and oxidation in some places. The original Jaguar wire spoke wheels look great and have no rust. Infact, there is no rust anywhere on this car...not on the body or frame. The gas cap lid has one of the two rubber grommets missing, The non-original convertible softop is slightly dirty in spots and the fabric around the snap on the lower left side is separating from the snap itself. The windshield has a couple tiny rock chips, the right side glass does not seal tightly due to some miss-alignment, the left side glass has a few very tiny vertical scratches, the tires have like new tread depth-but are cracking slightly due to age, and the front bumper's rubber bumperettes are just a little torn. That's pretty much the extent of the exterior deficiencies...all very minor and hard to spot. Inside, the supportive leather seats are totally intact and only have some normal creasing of the leather and some slight dye-color wear on the driver's side bolster. There is a tiny tear in the vinyl trim on the rear edge of the driver's door panel, the steering wheel's black dye color is thin in spots, the ignition switch is loose, the underside of the convertible top is stained in spots, the ashtray is rusted, the bar supporting the rear-view mirror has some chips in the paint on it, and some of the knobs and switches have scratches in their paint and or decals, but all are very minor. Mechanically, the car runs good and drives good. The engine starts right up even in cold weather, but it does have a misfire that we have not diagnosed and runs just a little rough. There is also some very slight exhaust smoke. The car shifts great and the clutch engages well with no slipping. The undercarriage is a little damp and dirty from some very minor fluid leaks. When you turn the steering wheel you can hear the power steering pump hissing from inside the car and there is a slight knocking you can feel from underneath when you brake or when you go over bumps. Other than those items the car is mechanically pretty solid for an original daily driver. Electronically, all the buttons, switches and components seem to work fine except for: the fan speed switch for the working A/C system only works on low and medium, but not on high speed. The 4-speaker Grundig AM/FM/Cassette stereo radio works great, but it appears the left front speaker is not working. And lastly, the analog clock does not work. Overall, this is a beautiful Jaguar in everyway. And, with a little mechanical work and some very minor cosmetic touch-ups, this car can be near perfect. Remember, this is a mostly original daily driver Jaguar and the car isn't in like new or concours restored condition. However, this rare Jag will give the lucky winning bidder many years of proud ownership and certainly will add value to their portfolio.
