Vehicle Description
1965 Jeep CJ5 Nice original california Jeep never had any rust issues. This Jeep was taken off frame and totally redone in 1998 and only has about 6000 miles since work was done. It was a nice job. Has 1979 Chevrolet 3.8 V6 engine with HEI, Headers,Edelbrock Intake and Carter 4 Barrel Carb. Hydraulic Clutch,Original 3 Speed Trans T90 Twin Stick Model 18 Transfer Case, Limited Slip Diffs. Dana 44 Rear and Dana 27 Front, With oversized Drum Brakes and Dual Diaphram Master Cyl. from a full size GM Car. Tires have plenty of tread and are 33 In tall.on Wide Black wheels. Both front and rear axles have Warn manual lock hubs for towing behind motorhome. Has nice heavy duty tow bar on bumper. Rear bumper is custom made very heavyduty. Has all new Painless wiring harness with GM tilt locking column and key in column. Has all new gauges 2 5/8 AutoMeter gauges. AM FM Stereo Cassette. Cobra CB Radio. Front and Back Seats are new by BestTops and Convertible Top is the same fabric made by Besttops. It has Zip Out rear and side windows. And removable Door windows. Paint was done at time of resto and is a bit faded but should polish up nicely. It still looks pretty good. I am sure I missed some other items so ask alot of questions and request additional pictures if needed. Also has a Full Cage Roll Bar and 4 seat belts with shoulder harness belts in front and lap belts in rear.
Jeep runs and drives nicely. I am not sure on axle ratios. But Jeep goes 55-60 with no problems and you can keep up @ 65-70 but its revving the engine a bit. I also forgot Jeep has all new Shocks Power Steering and TieRod ends so it handles quite well for a old jeep. There are no suprises just an Old Jeep that needs some one to tinker with it and keep it going.
I want to make sure that I dont forget anything when I say new or rebuilt it was done 10 years ago with very limited use since than. Still a very solid ride. Here is the BAD The gas gauge was not working right u could tap on it and it would work so I thought it needed wire tightened. which wasnt the case and now it doesnt work at all. When doing the repair (Or NON Repair) I disrupted the oil pressure line and now that will drop a drop of oil on floor every now and than. So bottom line both Gas Gauge and Oil Pressure Gauge need repairs. The windshield wipers were working but now seem to have issues and need repairs. The Clutch works Fine but it is a pretty stiff pedal and actually a bit hard and sensitive will require a qualified mechanis to look at it. Last the transfer case is leaking at the output shaft to the rear and has gotten oil on EBrake so it isnt working right. Transfer case leak is not alot but there is seepage and will leave a small spot in drive after a run. That is all I can think of there are no engine, axle, radiator or transmission leaks. Brake work well but they are drum brakes and are probably ready for adjustment.
Again I hope I havent made Jeep sound like a jalopy. Its just a nice old Jeep that needs some TLC and Love. Pleas again ask alot of questions.
