Up for sale is my 1980 Jeep CJ5. This is by far the funnest vehicle I have ever owned, there isnt too much you cant do with it. It has a GM 2.5L 4 cylinder iron duke, it does run pretty good. It has 114000 miles on it, I just put in new timing cover gasket and seal and timing gears, valve cover gasket and spark plugs, and cleaned the carb up a bit. This vehicle ran very poorly when I got it, but now it starts right up, just a bit cold blooded, it has no noticeable smoke, just smells like the carb is running rich while driving, I've personally put about 500-1000 miles on it since Ive had it with no major issues. The clutch is good, the transfer case and lockouts work, so obviously the 4 wheel drive works good. However this jeep still needs work to be a nice driver, I just use it for fun to go around town and play with now and again (nothing abusive), but I dont want anyone to think this thing is perfect. The known issues are clearly the body is rusted through in several places, the fuel tank must have some pin holes in it, its never wet or leaves marks, but every morning the garage smells of fuel, not sure what is exactly wrong but the fuel gauge doesnt work- its either the sending unit or the gauge, no farther than I drive it around I just put a few gallons in before each ride. The wiring is a mess, it seems to work, but someone with no clue had there hands at it at one time. Brakes work good, but takes a good push on the pedal, not sure if the booster is working or not. Basically for me as a toy it is perfect, a low budget machine to have a lot of fun with, but dont expect to buy this for a daily driver, not saying you couldnt, but to me its not one. It has nice tires on it and chrome rims. My plans for this were just to fiberglass it up and make it look decent and just keep using it for what I am. The half doors and bikini top are just homemade out of the old top and doors, they look fine and do there job. Who ever wins this is going to have fun with it I'm sure, I know I have. These things seem to bring a high price on ebay in my eyes, but I dont want much out of it cause it does need work and other than driving it around for fun it doesnt do me much good when it comes to my kids, cant really haul them around in it, so for that reason and the fact I spending all my free time working on my house and yard this summer I have no time for this.
