Boohoo, boohoo. I had this Jeep shipped all the way from California to build into a showgirl, and I was laid off last week. My priorities have changed, and she says the Jeep has to go. I hate it, but what can I do.
1985 Jeep CJ7--sort of a plain-jane white Jeep with black interior. She only has 85000 original miles and that is why I paid a pretty penny for her. With the low miles on the whole rig, that means low miles on the drivetrain, the suspension, wiring, plumbing and every screw and knob all have the low miles and low use on.
I shipped the Jeep from California, so that means no road salt and a solid platform.
There is no body rust whatsoever. Check out the photos and see there is no rust in the drivers pan--its original and rock solid! There are no rust bubbles in the rear fenderwells either. Of course, being as old as she is and never having been 'restored', there is some surface rust, chipped paint and rust stains here and there, but overall she is rock solid.
The tub has been coated with bedliner. Grey bedliner was installed to add some protection and some color. Much more attractive than a plain white floor, and much more attractive than basic black.
The front seats are mismatched and are in good shape with good solid support and no distinct problems. I put aloha print seat covers on just to add some color. The rear seat is grey vinyl. It is NEW-less than a month old. I also installed 4-point harnesses in the rear. Well, partially installed. Just no time yet. But, they are in there for you.
The dash has no cracks and is in perfect shape. I put a new plastic glove box in, and a new glove box door and latch.
I installed a marine stereo and speakers. Marine stereo means waterproof. It is an AM/FM with a CD player and an MP3 input. You can just plug your iPod right in with no extra crap. There are waterproof speakers hidden behind the dash panel.
I have a new in the box bikini top that comes along too. Soft top is included. No tears or major issues. Zipper or two needs work, but it is a Bestop brand and is good shape.
31" tires are in good shape, and have thousands of miles left on them.
In order to just do some preventative maintance, I replaced the thermostat to a low temp, and replaced the water pump at the same time. cheap insurance.
The engine is the superb 2.5L 150cid. If you are not familiar, this is the 258, cut down. Less weight, nearly the same torque and HP and hundreds of pounds lighter. With motor, she will float in sand, water and mud much easier than the larger motors. The motor has been a great daily driver and with only 85000 miles, she has plenty of spunk to bark the tires in a couple of gears. The T4 transmission has terrific low gearing for towing or mudding, but has not disappointed me on the interstate either.
I hope to give her a good home. She has never seen salty roads, mud bogs or rock climbing. I was looking forward to building her up to a great showy Jeep to catch folks eyes and make her a real eye catcher. In the meantime, she has been a great driver and still caught many an eye of the folks who know jeeps and know what a rare catch a low mile girl of her quality really is. I hope you take good care of her and have plenty of fun with her. i know i have.
