I have had this Chevrolet powered American Motors Jeep CJ5 since 1994. At that time the owner who had puchased the Jeep from the person that converted the Jeep to Chevy had been driving it as a daily driver. Somehow the TurboHydramatic 350 cracked it's bell housing which of course disabled the vehicle. In the process the rear drive shaft got into a bind and broke. When that happened the rear brake line was broken. The 1980 350CID 5.7Litre V8 starts and runs, it sounds very good. It will need a trans case or an exchange unit, a new driveshaft made, and the brake line repaired. This can all be done for $1,500.00 at the very highest, and that's if you take the whole thing to a retail shop. If you do it yourself and get a used trans this can be accomplished for a whole lot less. The vehicle has an official state of California Department of Consumer Affairs referee sticker affixed to the inner fender so it is smog legal. All of it's emmission componants are there including a single exhaust system with catalytic converter. I also have a smog test report from 1994 when it in fact actually passed a smog test. The Jeep Has Low back bucket seats that were upholstered in leather but now need redoing. It has a Bestop convertible top and soft side doors in fair shape. There is a BM floor shifter and a Sun tachometer. No power steering or brakes. It has 33" tires which have no miles on them but are older. The reason the trans broke is because the support braces that should bolt to the bell housing bolts at one end and the transfer case at the other end were not installed. In repairing the vehicle that will have to be done or it will happen again. Other that that it is a beautiful and desireable conversion. I would love to keep this Jeep and repair it myself but I have just too many cars and no time to deal with it. I have no reserve on this auction and have put a reasonable starting bid so bid with confidence. If you are looking for a nice V8 CJ5 this is a nice rust free vehicle. Once the auction closes the winning bidder will have to pay a 50% deposit within 72hrs. The balance will be due within 7 days of auction end and pick up must be made within 10 days of auction end. If after payment the Jeep is not picked up within the 10 days of auction end tan $50.00 per day storage fees will be charged. The Jeep is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction if I make a deal with someone prior to the auction end. UPDATE: I AM RELISTING THIS VEHICLE NOW AS THE WINNING BIDDER WAS A SUSPICIOUS BIDDER WHO ATTEMPTED THE OLD "GIVE ME YOUR ADDRESS AND I'LL SEND YOU THE FUNDS IN A CHECK WITH EXTRA MONEY" SCAM WHERE THEY MANUFACTURE AUTHENTIC LOOKING BANK CHECKS THAT COME BACK ON YOU AFTER A DELAY AND AFTER THEY CONVINCE THE VICTIM TO REFUND THE EXTRA FUNDS. BIG WASTE OF TIME AND IDIOTIC. YOU HAVE TO WONDER WHO FALLS FOR THAT.
