1982 Jeep Cherokee Laredo with a 258 (4.2 ltr) and an AMC/Chrsler 727. 4WD NP-208 transfer case, I do not know what axles are in it, the front hubs are selectable locking.
THE GOOD: It runs pretty good. Has a rebuilt Carter carb adapted from a boat and an aftermarket 6 into 2 header. No catalytic convertor. The power brakes work great. The tires have good tread but are starting to dry out. Hightly optioned: A/C, power driver seat, power windows, power locks, tilt column, wide track and brush bar and visor. Power steering. Good glass. Power tailgate window works. All lighting works except the platelight needs to be hooked up (2 wires). Clean title in my name. I drove this car everyday this spring and all of 2004. Then the transmission broke.
THE BAD: RUST. I isolated a picture of the driverside rear drip rail. It ROTTED through completely and continued to ROT the structure of the roof throughout the entire driver side. I was just going to cut the back off to make it look like a J-10. ABOVE AVERAGE northeast rust. THE TRANS (727 Chrysler AMC bellhousing) is NOT WORKING, needs to be rebuilt. The gauges have a bad ground and work intermittently. The A/C does not blow cold but should only need a recharge.
Overall this is a running parts car that can actually be used if you replace or rebuild the transmission. If you have a rust free shell and like these kinds of projects there is ALOT of vehicle here. Would be great to make a doomsday roadwarrior type vehicle of mass destruction! Please ASK FOR ADDITIONAL PICS. Cash in person PICK UP auction from West Hempstead NY 11552.
