I am relisting due to a dead beat bidder. This is an amazing 1971 4x4 Jeepster Commando with only 46,600 original miles!!!!! I purchased it from a fellow who had inherited it from his grandparents. The jeep was originally purchased by his great grandparents and it was passed down in generations. It runs very well. This jeep handles better than some vehicles 20 years newer. It is easy to drive and handles well with power steering. Everything works great on this jeep. The alternator and distributer cap have been replaced recently. The transmission is an automatic and works great. It has the "Dauntless" V6 motor. The 4x4 works excellent and has Warn locking hubs. This jeepster is solid. It also has a custom built spare tire rack which can easily be removed or you could add on to it to hold a gas can.
This jeep is in really good shape for being 37 years old. It would not take much to completely restore this jeepster. The tires have great tred but they are a bit dry and will need to be replaced soon. The wheels show some age. The steering wheel has a small crack in it. The front seats need to be reupholstered or covered, and it needs a new paint job to really make it shine!!!! The body is in good condition with virtually no rust. The hood had a dent which was repaired, but now the repair is cracked in that area as well the hinge area for the hood and just below that. These area should be simple to repair the right way. The top shows some wear and if restoring should be sanded and repainted as well. There is also a small area in the left front fender. Please refer to the pictures to see these areas. It was recentyl brought to my attention that the left fender is slightly different from the right. I believe it is off an earlier model commando. Please look and study the pictures to see the difference. It is not very easy to see the difference. This vehicle has been is Colorado all its life. I bet it was probably replaced from hitting a deer or something similar. I have no intensions of withholding any information on this vehicle. Please ask questions before bidding.
