Up for your consideration is a 1982 DJ-5L postal Jeep. This Jeep is right hand drive and was used on a rural route until about 6 months ago when the USPS started providing vehicles for rural carriers. This Jeep was driven 6 days a week for over 2 years with no major problems. As maintenance, for a vehicle of this year, we have replaced the following within the past 12 months: 4 new tires, muffler and pipe, brakes, radiator and hoses, headlights, and a few other things. She used this Jeep until the day it was parked, right where it is in the picture. When we bought it, it needed to be stripped and painted. I started removing the paint and sealing it one panel at a time, because it could not be out of service for any extended time. Well, it is about 1/2 way there because of that. It is currently grey sealer, and dark grey paint.
The engine is a 4 cylinder GM, and the auto trans is a 727. Both of which came in the vehicle from the factory, and both of which were replaced about 7 years ago by the postal service before I bought it in LA.
