This is an awesome, awesome car to own in Southern California, as you can take the top down in a few minutes to cruise down to the beach. With 70K miles, it has lower mileage than most cars from 2001, and all of the mileage is from city streets and highways (no off-roading...unless you count driving it on the grass to wash it). We have an AutoCheck report that has it rated a 92 where the average rating for a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport is 74-83 (I will send the report via email upon request).
We're only getting rid of it because my girlfriend can't drive stick and I just got a new car, otherwise we'd keep it for good beach days and trips around town. I'm honestly going to miss having this car around.
Some other good things about the car:
- We added overhead speakers and replaced the factory stereo with a detachable face stereo (Kenwood Single CD system with a remote control), making it a great sound system for a car that normally has a crummy one.
- We have the bikini top along with the soft top, included in the price of the car.
- Fog lights, ridiculous turning radius, small enough to fit in any parking space, runs well and I'll even throw in a pair of sunglasses so you're ready for the beach!
As for the things you'd want to know but most people wouldn't tell you, here's the only-the-owner-knows type info on the car:
- The passenger door catch is gone, but the door works fine. It just opens farther than usual.
- The casing over the gear shift is loose, but it's fixable with super glue. And even then, it doesn't pop off too often.
- It runs through water/coolant quicker than usual, but the engine runs fine and we've never had a problem with it (we've had it checked by two family mechanics, without issue).
- It's been in one minor fender bender (earlier this year) but we repaired everything so that it's as good as new.

Since we posted the listing, a few things came up that I feel obligated to pass on to anyone watching, bidding, or interested in this item. Nothing big, but in the effort of 100% honesty:
– We just found out that the DMV messed up (surprise) on processing our title to the car (we just transferred it from AZ) and that we won't have it for at least another week. Thus, delivery of the car will have to wait until at least the week of August 4th. That said, it's clear and the car just passed a smog check.
– The check engine light came on in the car. This has happened a few times, and each time we've brought it to a mechanic only to have him reset it because there's no issue with the car (this is similar to my other two Jeeps - Wrangler and Cherokee) in that the check engine light is flaky.
