** Please read entire description.** For sale is one of my favorite projects, My 1987 Jeep Wrangler. Bought it in august of 07 with a bad engine and trans. Now has a new drive line.
Engine and Drive Line:
Now has a rebuilt AMC 4.2L inline 6 with a performance Comp Cams cam shaft, A Pacesetter header, and minor porting to the head. It also has the after market aluminum valve cover, and a HEI distributor. Has 4,000 miles on rebuilt engine. It also has a new radiator, alternator, battery, and all new hoses. It also has newer tires, clutch, slave cylinder and front brakes. Those “newer” parts were done by last owner a week before I bought it. The jeep came factory with a Peugeot BA 10/5 transmission and NP207 transfer case. (BA 10/5 transmissions suck) And now has an AX15 transmission with 100,000 miles on it, (shifts fine and makes no noise.) and an NP 231 transfer case with 50,000 miles on it. (Shifts fine and makes no noise.) Transmission came out of a 1998 wrangler and the transfer case came out of a 2000 wrangler.
The Body And Frame:
The body is Painted olive drab green and has the U.S. ARMY and numbers because of two reasons. One this project was dedicated to my grandfather. And two the original red was faded to a pink. (Me in a pink jeep just does not look right.) Anyway the body has no major rust on it. The driver’s side floor pan is the only rust spot. (It’s a jeep.) It is a little banged up on the font fenders. The frame is as straight as it can be with little to no rust. Hard top and full steel doors only no soft top other than bikini top. Has the halogen head light kit.
Interior:
Passenger and drivers seat does have a few rips in it. Back seat has one tiny pin hole on top. Front half of the floor is carpeted and the whole floor is coated with truck bed liner. The passenger’s seat has a lean to it. Center console with cobra night watch CB/PA radio and Sub woofers are only included if bought though the buy it now option. I have a bikini top and side mirrors to go with it. Has a sound bar with working interior lights. New Sony Explod radio. All gauges work.
Needs some work:
The passengers seat lean, The ripped seats, The leaf spring sag a bit, The drivers side door latch dose not open from outside but works from inside, The engine has a small oil leak from valve cover, It has an exhaust leak (can hear it but can’t smell it.) And the horn dose not work. It has an over due inspection sticker because this was my winter project vehicle and I 98% way completed in January and drove it daily with out any problems until April because I took the insurance off the jeep because the weather warmed up enough to bring out my motorcycle and Camaro. I just put the insurance back on last week to drive it around to make sure it’s good and safe to drive and for test drives for potential buyers.
Other Information:
Even though the things that I listed that “needs some work” It drove me from New Jersey to Connecticut and back twice with not a single problem. (3 1/2 hours each way.) The reserve is lower than the buy it now. I am selling this because I have too many projects and it time to get rid of some. Also it is funding my 1986 Chevy ¾ ton C20 pickup Truck. Being sold AS-IS. It is in decent shape for a 21 yr old Jeep. If you want a perfect flawless Jeep go to the dealer and buy a new one.
