Vehicle Description
I bought this striking, classic, "alpine white" Rover D-90 from the original owner, a rock star who lives in California, back in 2000. In 5 years, he only put 17,000 miles on it (He was selling off his collection of top-notch luxury cars). This vehicle has never been smoked in. The D-90 is like no other vehicle on the road. I had the engine completely replaced at about 36,000 miles, as I was traveling far from home & the thermostat broke. It was in a really bad, New England winter storm, so I just kept driving towards civilization. Unfortunately it wasn't the wisest choice - the valves warped from overheating & I had to pay my mechanic (Riverside Automotive, an exclusive, vintage Land Rover restoration Company in Holliston, MA) about $6500 for the engine & labor. So this engine Only has about 37,000 miles on it. The clutch was also replaced while the engine was out. Since I've owned it, some of the enhancements have included a new radiator (1 1/2 years ago), added a Borla exhaust that can't be beat (2 1/2 years ago), added the RARE, custom, heavy duty, removable Roofrack from a Defender 110 (the rack was previously owned by another famous person) the rack can hold ANYTHING (Stacks of plywood, Sheetrock, a row boat...) with a rachet strap or two; located & installed an official Land Rover Rear Bench (not a thin, little jump seat bench, but a Full bench that matches the front seat's checked fabric pattern and even has 2 rear seatbelts); very recently replaced tie rod ends; the brake pads and all of the BF Goodrich Radial All Terrain tires (approximately 4,000 miles on them) - has a full sized, mounted BFG Spare tire & Official Land Rover spare tire Cover, full rear interior official Land Rover logo rubber mat (totally covers/protects the side & floor rugs); in the last month, replaced the fuel filter, distributor cap & rotor (for better mileage); replaced the original valve cover gasket, radiator hose & PCV valve hose. Also has a factory original Hard Top [fits over the safari roll bar that will keep you safe should you need it], which you'll definitely want, if you drive on the highway often, or live in a part of the USA that has snow in the winter. Has a very cool, front brush guard & fog lights (fog light on/off switch needs to be replaced); trailer hitch package/hitch power from the rear brake light. Blaupunkt CD player, Kove audio pre-amp; aftermarket speakers & subwoofer. Much more. It has Never been in an accident; this truck drives great, seems mechanically problem-free and is in good shape (obviously photographs quite well). I want the next owner to be elated with this rig, so keep in mind that it is not mint; it is not a museum piece & it is from 1995. I am an average guy with a wife and 2.4 kids (OK - 2 kids so far; no pets though), who drives it 3 or 4 days per week (until recently, I also had a sports car). I have taken care of it & keep it actively maintained; but there are some expected minor scratches/dings, as it is a 1995 Rover (Not a 2008). Has the typical hinge bolt rust that plagues Rovers that live near the ocean's salty air [I work 7 days per week, so I haven't had the time to upgrade to a stainless bolt kit - they can be found online & at Rover club websites]. One other thing I must mention is that the driver side door interior has cracked in several places, from being forced open when it was frozen shut during an ice storm - In New England, almost everyone's doors freeze shut a few times each winter. Impatient me poured a bucket of hot water on it & yanked it open, as I had to be somewhere important during a storm. In hindsight, this wasn't brilliant. I located more than one matching passenger door interior for $199, but haven't yet successfully found the driver side, which would properly fit - they are out there, but again, I haven't had much free time to look very hard. In case you are wondering, this vehicle has not been garaged since I've owned it, as garages are scarce here in Gloucester, MA. [That's one reason I bought this 4 wheel drive beast]. I just turn the key & drive through as much snow as nature has blessed us with, problem free. I have loaded it to the gills & plied heavy building materials on the roof rack several times per month & it still drives as well as when it is empty. This is one Tough Rig that has turned heads Every time I have driven it(!) If you are reading this, you must already understand that there are Rovers & then there are all other vehicles. Simply put, this vehicle is capable on or off road. I previously owned 3 different Jeeps before this & they were all junk in comparison - The last, a 1999 Cherokee, was purchased brand new & was the worst piece of garbage ever produced. Now I pull up beside Cherokees & Commanders and look down at them, as I am higher up, but better balanced(!) This can "rove" where other vehicles would roll. You & yours will feel very safe, even when surrounded by idiots gabbing on their cell phones, when they should be paying attention to driving. This is an Incredibly Rugged Vehicle used by the British Military (& other militaries too). It was limited to 500 units manufactured in 1995. I think there were only about 1,300 D-90's total manufactured from 1994-1997. Quite a desirable collector's item. I am only selling it because I am buying a 4 door Land Rover Discovery from a friend (I have kids now & need more than seating for 4). email me trojanshiek@hotmail.com to arrange a test drive and you can experience first hand, how I never tire of laughing at the poor souls (like I used to be), whom I see driving Jeeps. I do have some local interest in this truck, so I reserve the right to void any ebay sale if this vehicle sells offline.
