1970 Lotus Europa S2 Vin #0090R, Unit #7003060090R, Engine #0932, 4-speed transmission #0848, paint code L09 An exotic sports car that gets fabulous gas mileage! This is a California car that served as a daily driver until June of 2007 and has been in storage since. General condition: Overall, a good unrestored Lotus but worn. The paint appears to be original and looks good from about 10 feet away, but because it is 38 years old it does have cracks and scratches (someone keyed the bonnet). There are also some small cracks in the fiberglass at the front left fender, and the nose looks slightly "dented" along with the bumper. The frame is rust-free. The engine starts right up and runs strong with no smoke (the previous owner said it was recently rebuilt but it didn't come with receipts). Shifts and brakes well (new master cylinder). Weber carburetor and a gear-reduction starter have been added (the original carb and starter are included). The engine has been recently tuned up with new plugs, points, condenser, cap, and rotor. Most of the electrics work, including the power windows. Turn signals and brake lights do not work (some of the wiring looks disconnected). The interior is original but worn; the drivers seat is taped, the carpet is bad, the headliner has rips, the vinyl top of the dash has one 2" crack, but the wood dash is better than it appears - only the varnish is cracking. The glass all looks good with no chips/cracks. The muffler needs to be replaced. The alternator works but is misaligned. The car features rare Cosmic wheels (6 wheels come with the car!). The tires are the wrong size; they rub on the inner wheel wells on sharp turns (wheels are correct though). The passenger door needs to be adjusted. Comes with the original Lotus factory manual. This is a rare Europa - most are either freshly rebuilt with no miles or are a pile of disfigured parts. This car has been in storage for over a year and is currently not registered. The car will need to be thoroughly gone through before returning it to regular service.
