Description
1979 MGB convertible. This Limited Edition MGB is a LOW mileage collector car. Odometer reads only 10701 miles. Same owner since 2003 and many records are available. It was first sold in 10/03 with 9704 miles through a charity auction in Las Vegas, Nevada and then it was sold in Beverly Hills, California where it was part of a car collection. We then purchased part of that collection and brought the car in sunny San Diego, where we have had this MGB parked in our garage for the past 8 months taking it out for a spin so often that the battery never went dead. We drove this car for 3/400 miles without having any problem. We now have registered the car in our dealer name and we are waiting for the new title to come from the DMV, which it should arrive sometime this week. This MGB is in really good condition; engine has great power and with an electronic overdrive transmission, I pushed the car up to 90 MPH...(Don’t tell CHP!). It has a really tight suspension that makes the ride smooth and safe, but more than anything, it makes it very fun to drive. The electrical and optional equipment on this vehicle has been checked to insure that it is all in working condition. Extra clean interior, absolutely no rips, odors or abuse. The exterior condition on this vehicle is extra clean. I would estimate that the tires have more than 50% of their thread life remaining. This vehicle has all of its original body parts and appears to have never been in an accident. This pampered vehicle is use to being garage kept. A few more information about the Limited Edition: The Limited Edition was a marketing endeavor between B-L and the U.S. distributorship in Leonia, NJ to boost slipping sales in the North American Market. The production period of the North American version "LE" was 1979-1980. When I asked Don Hayter how it was that it was assured that the cars were always black, he stated that there was an agreement between "Leonia" and all North American dealers that the "LE kit" would be only installed on black cars and to buy a black car of that time period, it had to be a Limited Edition only. There were 6,668 produced in the two years of production. The following items make the Limited Edition unique as compared to the other MGB models of that time period. it must be also noted that the North American model came only in the "Tourer" body style and not the GT. Front air dam L.E. Five spoke alloy wheels, manufactured by GKN, with MG hub center appliqués Silver lower body stripes Luggage rack Leather covered, padded, three spoke steering wheel with a special center hub. This uses the same MG applique as the wheels. A Limited Edition dash plaque installed on the glove box. Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time. A $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of end of auction. The remainder is due within 5 days of auction end. If no contact is made within 24 hours we reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next high bidder, or sell it otherwise. Most banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles older than 1995 or with more than 100K miles. Make sure if financing that your financial institution accepts the year and miles of this vehicle before bidding. Please arrange financing prior to bidding.
