Vehicle Description MGB 1974 See additional photos at: http://picasaweb.google.com/Minorsands/1974mgb You are bidding on a 1974 chrome bumper, splined hub MGB, with overdrive. The vehicle completed a 2 year restoration in 2004, and has put on 1,400 miles since that time. Odometer reading 69,150. This vehicle is not concourse. It was put together for the singular purpose of being a beefy street driver, based on the concepts of Brit-Tek, LTD (brittek.com). A baremetal restoration and rebuild, with every bit of rust cut out and panels replaced, inclucing front and rear fenders, inner and outer sills, bonnet, boot lid, front valence, door skins, floor pans, supports, brackets, and braces, was done by a British auto body restoration shop. They also applied rust proofing, primer, and a liquid sound deadening material. A pre-cut asphalt like sound deadening kit was placed on the floor pans. Jaguar Brooklands Green, (OEM 753), DBU 46968, basecoat/clearcoat system was utilized for the color. Materials were purchased from Brit-Tek, The Roadster Factory, Motorhead, Victoria, and Moss. The Engine: The engine was pulled and rebuilt by a professional rebuilder using Brit-teks major engine kit (please view their site for a complete description), and their Stage 1 Deluxe Kit with 1/4, 270 degree cam, and Cannon header. I have added a Mallory distributor. Aluminum valve cover. This vehicle has a hotter tune, horsepower increased to 110-115, and has great low and mid to upper mid range acceleration. I have had it up to 85 mph once, with obvious power in reserve. I use unleaded fuel, with the upgraded rebuilt head. 13 row oil cooler unit with stainless braided lines. Fuel delivery and Breathing: Weber 32/36 DGV downdraft, and KN air filter.. New gas tank, sending unit, modern fuel pump, and copper fuel lines. Ignition: Mallory distributor. Uprated 40,000 volt coil, and high performance spark plug wires. Exhaust: Cannon header connected to an Ansa performance exhaust system with dual chrome tips. Cooling and Heating: Heater unit stripped, cleaned, refinished, and all new components, including heater radiator, placed. Complete new cooling kit, from radiator, to water pump, to fans, hoses, clamps, screws, overflow bag, fan motor, etc. Electrical: All electrical replaced. Wiring looms, lamps, bulbs, new alternator, high torque Japanese starter, all switches, dials, rheostat....all new. Brakes: Drilled rotors, and slotted drums, with stainless braided brake hoses, and copper brake lines were added to Brit-Teks Major Brake Kit to make for an entirely new system, including uprated brake pads and shoes. New emergency brake components. New (rebuilt) calipers, and new brake master cylinder. Silicone fluid. Clutch: New Borg and Beck, new master and slave cylinders. Stainless braided line. Suspension and Steering: Complere front and rear suspension kits and assembled king pin set, from Brit-Tek were used to replace entire systems. New steering rack and steering column were placed. Spax gas adjustable shocks were placed front and back. New steering lock set, wiper/washer arm, turn signal/dimmer arm sets were placed. Handling: Mini-light wheel replicas, splined hub, including spare, were wrapped with Kelly Metric radial 185/70/14 tires. Polyurethane bushing upgrades were added, along with a 3/4 " front sway bar. Interior: Black leather seating kits with new cushions, backings, and frame components from UK. Complete Deluxe carpet kit and panel set from UK. New dash, and all door hardware including window cranks, windshield and door glass. Moto-Lita steering wheel. Deluxe cloth soft top and bow cover. All new rubber trim and seals. A voltmeter was nicely placed in the radio console. Exterior: All new bumpers and over riders, spring bars, bolts, fasteners, top frame, badges, trim, door handles, plastic battery bins, etc. Drivetrain: The transmission, over drive, and differential were deemed very good, and not rebuilt. Drive shaft was refitted with new u-joints. Known Faults: 1. Bonnet-fender space is not perfect (photo). 2. paint is not perfect 3. small tear in drivers seat (photo). Win this MGB and save the years and effort involved with getting it to this point. While you are driving it, you can modify to your personal preferences, instead of waiting years for a rebuild. This 'B' needs someone to take charge of it, drive it, and tend to its needs and requirements. I am not a mechanic, nor am I able to give any more technical information than that listed, however, I can give a great deal of enthusiastic commentary. Good luck to the right bidders!
