If you’ve never driven an MGB Roadster, then it will be hard for you to understand the pure sense of joy you get with one of these cars! I was once told that a car like this is a form of stress release, if you ever have a bad day you just go for a ride in your MG, and it’s not so bad anymore… I drive my red one everyday so I’m usually in a pretty good mood! Yes, I currently own two, the white one (listed here) and a completely restored red one that I drive everyday. I can honestly say that I love my MG, not only are MGB’s very classy, sporty, cheap for parts and labor but are remarkably reliable, and are GREAT on gas! I have driven a 250km trip on less then ¼ tank! I think the idea of a fuel-efficient convertible that looks this smart kind of sells itself, so I will get into the specifics of the car listed here today.
This car is a 1972 MGB Roadster, there are 61000 miles, from what I can see NO rust anywhere on the body, with only minimal rust starting on the underside by the drivers floor, it is not through the floors, just starting and probably most people wouldn’t even mention it. The trunk etc is all very solid as well. This car was in the same family since new, I am the 2nd owner and the only one outside of their family to have owned this car. The car is factory red, but had been repainted by about 10 years ago in white. The paint is presentable for a driver, but should be put back to red. The body is straight and solid, and if you chose to prep it for paint it wouldn’t take more than a couple days work I’m sure. The interior is interior is original and well kept. The car starts, runs drives and stops well. The car was last registered in Alberta a few years ago but has been in my Garage and not driven / insured for a couple years now. If you live nearby you could drive it home. But because it hasn’t had a tune up or been looked at in a while I would recommend a truck / trailer to get it home if you are some distance away. Of course the fact that the car is a driver will bring down you shipping costs greatly as it is easier to load etc. Generally the car is in very nice shape, and would make a driver with very little effort, or a perfect candidate for minor restoration!
Flaws: The car is 36 years old, so it’s hard to say there are flaws after that amount of time, I would say it’s expected after this amount of time that a car should need something, and if someone said it didn’t I would worry even more J The car has a great body, but paint looks a little tired, I’ve seen worse at car shows, but I’m picky and besides, the car is supposed to be red anyhow! The interior is actually very good, only the drivers seat bottom is split, but only the seat bottom, the rest is really good even the carpeting! The top has a foggy plastic window, but will keep water out fine, and isn’t shrunken, there are two small splits on either side from the bows pushing out, but again the top does work and keep the water out. There is an oil drip from the engine, believe it to be the pan gasket / oil plug gasket. Honestly that’s about it! Glass is good, floors are solid, engine sounds good, chrome is excellent clutch is good, e-brake, lights wipers etc. all work fine!
So why am I selling? I have two of them, and am keeping the restored one… it’s as simple as that!
Please ask questions, I will answer them all, I want the new owner to be happy with this car and have a good experience with ebay! We are fair and reasonable people, and will help in any way we can to make sure the sale goes well for you. We will store the car for a short time while shipping is arranged, and I can help load onto a trailer or do whatever needs to be done… I’m a “let’s make it happen” kind of guy!
I will add a buy it now price and if I didn’t have one already I would buy it myself!J
