1971 MG MIDGET CONVERTIBLE Engine: 50,209 miles. Engine runs good. Does not burn any oil that I can tell. It does smoke a little when first started but clears up within 30 seconds or so, i think this has more to do with the manual choke but i am not a mechanic, so i just want to mention it. I have driven this car about 65 miles round trip and have had no problems. Body: The body does have some rust as you can see by the pictures but nothing that cant be fixed with a little manual labor. The most important thing needing fixed on the body is the passenger floor pan, the passenger seat is not secured in the front, it seems the bolt has pulled throught--i recently priced one in a MG part book and the floor pans are about 150 a piece--but im sure could be fixed cheaper if capable. Interior: The seats are in good condition, the driver seat has a small tear but is fixable....i keep the seat covers on to keep the seats protected and they dont get as hot...the carpet could use replacing or at least cleaning and re-securing. the dash has some cracks in it but that seems to be expected from these cars. Tops: The convertible top is in pretty good condition, i did not secure it in the picture because i keep the top down and the car in the garage. A few of the snaps for the convertible top need to be replaced. OK, heres the best part....i have a hard top for this MG, the hard top is in very good condtion with the exception of the weather stripping...which needs to be re-secured or replaced. Hardtops are hard to find for these cars and pretty expensive when you do find one. Check out the picture. PLEASE DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU INTEND TO FOLLOW THROUGH, IT IS A WASTE OF EVERYONES TIME. THANKS GOOD LUCK WITH THE BIDDING, PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS. CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY, IT MAY BE PULLED IF SOLD. On Jul-03-08 at 19:17:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I would be remiss if i did not mention that once body work was done, the car is need of a paint job. the paint is pretty dull On Jul-07-08 at 13:22:17 PDT, seller added the following information: in answer to few questions, the rust on the drivers side above the MIDGET placard has rusted mostly throught the sheetmetal and on the passenger side, the small rust spot above the M in Midget has rusted through. and i also assume the passenger seat not being attached is from the floor pan rusting, i have not pulled the carpet to confirm that. hope this clears up the questions.
