Vehicle Description
1979 Maserati Merak SS
This California car was just traded in to our dealership on a Prowler, It is not perfect by any means but it runs and drives well and it has only 54,000 miles on the car. I will do my best to accurately describe its cosmetic and mechanical condition.
Interior;
The interior is 100% original and is in good condition. The seats are original with no rips or tears but do show some wear marks and checking on areas. The dash is in excellent condition having no cracks but it is sun bakes on the top are that is directly exposed through the windshield. The steering wheel and door panels are original the door panels show some minor leather wear on the arm rests and the leather is dry on the top edge nearest the windows but are not cracked or damaged in any way. The steering wheel is in excellent condition with no damage. The center console is in excellent condition with no damage. The carpet is in excellent condition with no damage.
Mechanical;
The motor starts and runs very nice. There is no smoke or unusual drive train noise at start up. There is some minor exhaust leak sound when cold. The clutch works very nicely and the car shifts smoothly. The air conditioning is not working, but all the components are there, the compressor belt is on, and all lines are connected. The in dash manual choke does not seem to be connected the lever at the dash seems to move freely with no resistance. It still starts without the choke but has a tendency to die on the first couple of start attempts. All of the gauges are working even the clock. I recently drove the car about 100 miles with no run problems. The power window on the passenger side works but is slow and hangs up, the driver side power window works fine. The brakes work properly,
Exterior paint, body and trim;
The car needs paint. The car has 70% original paint and it no longer has any gloss to it. The driver’s side has been repainted at some time long ago and is also dry and checking on the repainted areas, there is some areas where body damage exists. The drives side on the lower edge of the body there is an aluminum trim panel that is severely damaged, there is a small dent on the left rear corner of the body, and the bumpers are in excellent condition. There is a small dent on the right front corner of the body. The lower edge of the front spoiler is chipped and cracked. I will show all of these damaged areas in photos. There is no structural damage and the car has a clean California title. Having been in California the car is very dry; I see no evidence of rust in any area of this vehicle. Under the hood everything appears to be stock. The soft hoses that run from the air cleaner to the hood vents are missing. Everything else is there and in tact.
Wheels and tires;
The wheels are the stock factory wheels for the car and are not damaged. The spare wheel is the original spare and it is not damaged and has an original size tire. The car currently has Michelin tires that are newer and in excellent condition

This is a very rare car with low mileage and a rare interior trim package. I do not have service or maintenance records. I encourage and welcome any interested buyer to come and look at this car and drive and inspect it in person.
WHEN THE BIDDING IS OVER:
The winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours by phone to confirm intent to purchase. If this is not done the vehicle will be offered to the next qualified bidder. The winning bidder must send us a $500 non-refundable deposit within 2 business days of the auction closing. The remaining balance will be due in full within 7 business days. Please make sure all money and loans are in order before placing a bid. Seller accepts cashiers check, money orders, bank wire, and major credit cards up to $5,000. All funds will be verified prior to vehicle leaving us. It is not our intension to force anyone to purchase a car they are not completely satisfied with. If after you personally inspect the car at our facility, you are not satisfied with the condition of the vehicle, all of your money will be refunded. If you take the chance of having it delivered without inspecting the car at our facility, no adjustment to the price will be made, no reimbursement for transportation will be given. If you simply change your mind or make no attempt to complete the transaction or inspect the car, the $500 dollar deposit will be retained by us, but all other funds will be returned to the buyer.
INSPECTION OF VEHICLE:
If you wish to test-drive or inspect this vehicle, have it evaluated by a mechanic, or appraised please make these arrangements prior to bidding. We have all of our cars mechanically inspected prior to offering them for sale. We sell no cars that are salvage, Lemon law, flood damage, or a branded title of any nature.
TAXES:
California residents will be required to pay applicable sales tax and license fees for the state of California county for which they reside, and all buyers will pay a documentation fee of $45, unless that buyer is a licensed California dealer and can provide valid resale number and dealer license. Buyers are responsible for all applicable taxes, title and registration costs due in there own state of residence.
SHIPPING:
The buyer agrees to pay shipping charges. Having shipped cars all over the U.S. we are experienced in dealing with and securing shipping. We would be happy to assist you in finding auto shippers, however the seller assumes no responsibility contracting the shipping and for the vehicle after it leaves our facility. The vehicle must be picked up within 14 days of auction closing. Seller will allow more time within reason for transport scheduling if necessary. If there is a delay in having your vehicle shipped, we will gladly keep your vehicle secure in our facility for a reasonable time agreed upon by both buyer and seller.
AUCTION CANCELLATION:
Bidders understand and agree that the seller reserves the legal right to cancel this auction at anytime if the vehicle becomes sold or unavailable for any reason. Seller shall not be held responsible or held liable for any such cancellation.
WARRANTY:
The vehicle is used and in most cases is not being sold with a warranty from the selling dealer. Many of our cars still have the manufacturers warranty still in effect and in most cases this warranty will be continuing on to the new buyer. We also sell extended service contract for up to one hundred thousand miles. If you are interested in this feel free to call us before you bid and we will give you the cost and term details of the warranty for the car you are considering. Buyer agrees to all terms set forth in this auction and will hold the seller harmless for any and all conditions that may arise as a result of this transaction.

To California residents, we have Credit Union Direct Lending. If you are currently a Credit union member, we can process your loan directly at our facility and you pay exactly the same interest rate as you would if you went in to the credit union yourself.
If you have another lender and they need documentation from us, please call and we would be glad to assist you and your lender in getting the paperwork they need to process your loan request.
